Super Rice Modifications - Tadz0rz Business Plan

Postby tadz0rz » Thu May 07, 2009 11:10 pm

Hey guys...

Im hoping you guys can help me out with a bit of homework. I had the inspiration from this site and what i want to be doing in the future.

My business plan in short is to open up a DIY car wash and Car modification and service center called "Super Rice Modifications"

At this establishment, there will be 6 bays for car washing via coin operated machines and in an ajacent building there will be a facility that has 9 bays for mechanic and public use. You can rent out a bay and shop tools to serivice your car in a way that you couldnt do at home.

It will have a full body paint shop and servicing area, on site mechanics to advise you on repairs an any other issues.

Super rice modifications will have deticated sections for each section of a car for our staff to work in such as Exterior for wheels and paint, a deticated area for interior for apolostery, stereo ect and a deticated area for engine modifcations and repairs.

What do you guys think of this? Althogh it isnt a real business plan, it has to be realistic. If you had a shop like this in your area...would you use it etc?

Do you guys have any other suggestions for unqiue things that my business can provide? As in what would you like to also see in a business like this....

Any suggestions/comments/flaws are appreaciated. Ill post up my full business plan later if it can help people furthur on what my business actually does.

Super Rice Modifications – Your one stop shop for all your car modification needs! Super Rice Modifications deals with everything to do with your car including…
Wheels
• Tyres
• Suspension
• Interior
• Exterior
• Paint
• Exhausts
• Engine
• Detailing
• Servicing
• Roadworthy
• Brakes

Introduction
Super Rice Modifications is set apart from other shops because of its buying power in the overseas market such as Singapore and Japan who are on the forefront of new car modifications and body kits. Another innovative feature that SRM offers our customers is the availability of public access hydraulic lifts for the automotive enthusiast. You can get down and dirty with your car with full shop tools available for hire. Along with our state of the art service centre, we will have dedicated sections of our facility for interior, exterior and stereo equipment installations. We will also have an onsite DIY or professional car wash centre. Here, you can wash your own car with the coin operated machines to wash your car with the high pressure water nozzles. If you cant be bothered with washing your car? SRM has professional detailers on site for all your car needs, from a simple wash, to the full detail of the interior, exterior and everything in between on your car.
This will be a single-location firm providing a service to a local market. It will be a combination of the coin-operated car wash and an attached facility to allow DIY auto mechanics to rent repair bays with professional equipment and working conditions that professional mechanics enjoy. These repair bays would include hydraulic lifts, compressed air tools, individual lighting systems and specialty tools used only for specialized tasks. Along with these tools, there will be on site mechanics to help you out in any ways you need depending on the job your trying to complete.
Super Rice Modifications has targeted a specific market of individuals who would like to work on their cars, yet they lack the proper space and equipment to do so. This is a growing market in urban areas, because many people live in apartment complexes that restrict on-site auto repair. Our target market is about 90% male in the age range of 18-55 who earn from $20,000 to $40,000 per year. Based on these desired demographics, we have chosen to locate our facility in Richmond, Footscray or Kew.

Start up costs
Super Rice Modifications intends to acquire an existing car wash facility with six bays. We expect to spend about $225,000 to buy a facility with enough land to expand the business. We will also construct an additional nine bays outfitted specifically for painting and repair. Construction will cost about $300,000, and the owners intend to contribute capital equal to 10% of initial investments. Approximately $60,000 worth of equipment will need to be purchased to properly equip our repair and painting facilities. Total initial assets and start up costs will be $600,000
The layout of the new facility will include three bays equipped with 3 tonne capacity lifts for doing light work and oil changes. Three more bays will have heavy-duty 6tonne capacity lifts for doing major repair work. Finally, there will be three bays equipped with ventilation and equipment for painting cars. Also, there will be a customer service area for customers to check in and out their chosen work bays and tools. Fees will depend on the type of bay desired and range from $15 to $50 per hour of usage. Customers will have access to up to ten tools at a time to perform their repairs.
Product and Service Description
The facility will be a standard coin-operated car wash with an attached building to house the other auto repair bays. The attached building will have nine bays with a customer service area and restroom/break area. Each bay will be designed for a specific type of repair work. There will be four types of bays:
1. Car wash bay: Standard car wash equipment (spray guns, soap brushes, etc.).
2. Auto Body/Paint bay: Special ventilation and other environmental controls needed to create an appropriate place to paint auto parts. Additional special equipment is needed for these bays (compressors, painting equipment, etc.).
3. Wheel Lift bay: These bays will have a drive-on lift. Used for repairs not requiring the wheels or suspension to be free.
4. Frame Lift bay: These bays will have a lift designed to pick up a vehicle by the frame, allowing the wheels and suspension to hang free.
There will also be a customer service area where the customers will originally check in, and they are assigned the appropriate bay at this time. Later, customers check tools in and out as needed, and finally, they check out and pay. In addition, we will provide resources such as manuals and online pages that provide DIY instructions and advice along with the professional advice of our expert shop mechanics
During the check-in process, the customer will complete a form with general information including name, address, phone number, method of payment, type of repair/maintenance to be performed, and expected time of completion. This form will have a disclaimer relinquishing Super Rice Modifications from any liability resulting in the customer's inability to perform the repair, lost or stolen private property if the customer leaves their bay unattended, and other issues as suggested by private and insurance carrier legal counsel. Super Rice Modifications does expect to be liable for broken or faulty tools that are rented by mistake, but will not be liable for injury resulting from the misuse of a tool.
The customer will be given ten identification tags that can be traded for tools. A customer must give up one tag for each tool he wishes to rent. This process will accomplish several things. It prevents any one customer from accumulating all the tools, which would limit other customers' access. It also prevents a customer from accumulating a large number of tools and attempting to steal them, thus limiting our risk exposure to any one customer. This system also makes check out easier. If the customer returns less than ten tags at check out, it is immediately obvious that all the tools have not been turned in.
We intend to hire three fully certified mechanics. The mechanics will not be authorized to perform any work on a customer's car, but they will be able to take a look at the car to evaluate the problem. To reduce our liability for repairs done incorrectly we feel only professional mechanics should give advice to customers. The primary function of the mechanics will be customer service and managerial responsibilities.

Something tells me you're doing Business Organisation and Management in school...
down and dirty with your car with full shop tools available for hire.
One thing, instead of offering the TOOLS for hire, offer the actual bays/lifts for hire, say $100/hr or something.

First off, let me say I like the ideas you put forward, but there are a few changes in the last 5 years Tadz.......Super wash car wash places with 6-7 bays don't make much money anymore with the councils pumping up the water restrictions and tariffs on businesses who specialise in water consumption. Secondly, do-it-yourself service bays with lifts and tools seem like a winner, but the price for indemnity insurance has sky-rocketed (Last thing you want is some jackass with power tools getting hurt or killed - You as the owner would be liable) So you would need someone with full mechanical qualifications there all day to help/aid people. That costs $$$$. Might be better to get a franchise in car detailing services and find somewhere to build a huge garage/shed to allow do-it-yourself services or you could do it for em and charge em!!!! (But I like your inginuity!!!)

A disclaimer would solve the liability issue. Here, sign this, etc. Like skydiving haha

I like it, a lot of people enjoy working on THEIR OWN cars, rather than hiring people to do it, but they don't have the tools etc to do so.

What about getting your own DYNO machine and learn how to do tuning for poeple. Somewhere like up here in T-Ville or Cairns would do OK. There is only 2 tuning places here to go to. They always have a backlist of orders for people wanting to tune their cars!!!! How much do dyno machines cost????? 10-15k. How much to dyno cars - $300-400. It'll pay for itself within a year!!!!!!

Thanks for the reply azza, I can add that Super Rice Modifications will not be liable for any injury as a result of repairs or lack of knowledge of the equipment used.

And with the car wash, most car washes nowadays run on rain water. Thats what i was getting at with the car wash but i better add it in.

But as i said, Although it has to seem real, its not. So i dont really think my ebiz teacher will really think about imdemity forms on working with machinery. But you do make a good point. Im sure if i add that in it will show that i have researched my idea in all its aspects.

You gave me alot to think about azza, Thanks man +1.

What does everyone else think? Any oppinions are greatly appreciated.

Edit: DYNOS! THATS A WICKED IDEA!!!!! THANKS AZZA! Ill find a way to implement that into the business plan. This aint due for another 4 weeks or so, so i have plenty of time to get oppnions and ideas from you guys.

THANKS!!!

And then installation of things - seats, stereos.......Costs alot of money to set up (but what business doesn't these days) and trying to make a name for yourself with advertising is tuff. You may have to wait up to 2-3 years before you can create a real positive relationship with all your clients (to keep em coming back) Indemnity insurance is mandatory even with a disclaimer. You can't own a gun, put it freely out on a table and watch people come by touch hold and shoot that gun, and then say if they shoot themself or someone else, you are not responsible..... Its a sh*tty rule but since you put the gun there, you are responsible!! You need someone with automotive expertise to be on site at all times to avoid accidents.
