Interesting to note after mods, if I change to a CAI and intend on getting headers 4 2 1 and then adding a full exhaust later, while my plugs are about due now, would it be smart to change drom std? Your opinion appreciated

NO .... there is no need to change your Spark Plugs from the Standard Range.
There will not be any significant operating temperature difference effect on your engine with those mods to warrant a Heat Range change of your Spark Plugs.
Just replace the genuine NGK Iridium Plugs found in your engine at present.
2.0L = NGK FR6EI
2.4L = NGK FR5EI
These are the best value for money & performance available for your superficially modded engine.
