Thinking of modding car- warranty issue

Postby DaReeD » Fri Oct 05, 2012 1:25 pm

Hey guys I have a my12 lancer vrx bought it brand new a couple of months ago.
I'm planning to put on a cold air intake, change the hood, rear bumper to have diffuser and dual exhaust, new rims and lowering the car.
Does any1 know if modding it with the stuff listed above would void the warranty of the car?
Also any suggestions where I could get cheap parts in Sydney?? :)

They can also void it if it was installed by an "unlicensed technician" like a DIY job. They'd use a justification a long the lines of "Other parts could have been tampered with or damaged, resulting in the failure of [affected part]"

That happened to a mate of mine.

Quick answer is yes. If one of the mods is responsible for a part failing then you lose the warranty on that only.

So if you lower you car and shocks die, your not covered.
The Air intake for some peculiar reason damages your engine then your on your own.. IF they can prove it was the modifcation that was the cause.

Bottom line you want warranty don't modify.
