Hi all, I am after a pretty basic pc.
I only have 4 requirements - it has to be wifi ready, have hdmi out to connect to tv and at least 1 TB hdd and come with an OS (windows 7 etc).
Don't need keyboard/mouse/monitor etc.
That is all, it is only gonna be a net browsing and D/L computer.
Any options/opinions/recommendations and costs to expect are appreciated.
I have no clue on building these things or I would be doing that!!
In Victoria also!
Thanks, Ben.

Hey Ben, you heard of Scorptec computers? They're in Victoria http://www.scorptec.com.au/
I got my PC there, never had a problem with it for the whole 5 or so years I've had it. They have a large range of PCs too

i build computers as a hobby. buy everything off PC Case Gear, they are also in Melbourne and their postage is really cheap. im in Adelaide but i could easily guide you on how to build it if you needed a step by step guide.
people often think that computers are complicated to build but the fact is that they are really really simple things. if you can change engine oil in a car, you can build a computer.

all comes to $550 + shipping which would be about $50 tops. only thing left is a copy of Windows to get it running. this setup would be perfect for running a storage/media computer as well as some gaming if you wanted to do that as well.

shame your not in adelaide, i have heaps of computer stuff kicking around. have a few computers that im not using anymore that would be perfect for running a media server.
but yea if you wanna get some idea on how to build it give me a PM, i can write you up a step by step guide on how to do it. might even be able to hook you up with a install of Windows 7.

maybe its just what ive been in there for. ive gone to MSY and asked for something that they have listed on their website but didnt have in stock and been told that they refuse to help me by getting it in. talking orders for 2 grand worth of parts. but i guess everyone gets a different experience.

Spec up the parts you want.
Go to http://staticice.com.au to find the cheapest price for the specific part. Profit!

^Staticice is fantastic if you know the specific part you're looking for. MSY, Centrecom and scorptec are also great and I have bought stuff off the lot of them. Personally I've found MSY too be the cheapest, but again, you need a pretty good idea of what you want, coz it can be a bit hard to get advice from staff sometimes. For ready-made pc's, I really feel that centrecom are a whisker above the others, have good prices and can speak to you in plain english about your needs. Avoid CPL at all costs!!!!! You'll go in young and verile and leave old, grey and impotent

I've hear IJK http://ijk.com.au/ are pretty good too from friends. I've never used them myself.... they're like MSY in many respects... probably stock slightly different product lines and brands.
