Hey looking at getting tail lights tint sprayed.. Is it legal to a certain shade?? If so where can I pick up some decent tint spray?
Cheers

from what my understanding is, if you tint them your reflectors must be clearly visible if they are incorporated into the fixture, if you turn you parkers on the lights must be clearly visible, and if you break the lights need to visible also, if they are not then its deemed not roadworthy.
but it comes down to the police also and what they deam to 'clearly visible'

Thanks for letting them know ben
To be honest, they look fantastic when they are tinted, i loved them. For its not worth the extra cash and effort if you do end up getting defected.
I know people that have it around my area and haven't had problems with police but its all touch and go, you might get caught you might not.
A very light or "Smoked" tint similar to the smoked LED taillights available for the CJ is as dark as you can go. And still be ok with road authorities.
But thats my experience, it is ILLEGAL none the less if it is tinted alot, a slight shade you shouldn't have a problem with.
Im not held accountable for what you decide to do
See i thought the same, but its isn't like that at all. Doesn't matter how visible they are, its a alteration of a safety device, you can't modify them at all unless it is ADR approved.
Just so you get the jist of how dark mine looked. VERY DARK - but this was only two light coats of VHT night shade tailight tint. Looks dark in photos but you could still see the light and reflectors clearly, both in sunlight and night. Cop didnt agree

it varies from state to state.
when i had them on my old car you could still clearly see my lights. they only looked smoked out
in the above pic they are clearly tinted dark.

I've had mine tinted for many months now without any problems. I've been randomly stopped for car inspections etc without any troubles. I guess it all depends on the type of cop that does the inspection.
The below photo was taken in pretty extreme sunlight so they look far brighter than they actually are. Timmy can vouch for this
