I have a MY08 VRX CVT... smoothest auto I've ever driven... Might be a little slower than the manual though.... what sort of fuel economy are you getting atm? Personally I'd rather throw a couple grand on top of what your planning on paying for the active and buy a second hand ralliart

I'm with Buzz on this... .
Stretch yourself out and you could have a pretty high mileage RA for about A$26K. Drive it conservatively for awhile before sending it in for a full service which no doubt will cost a bomb but upgrading from an ES to an Activ is a waste of time.

In theory, the manual uses less fuel when driven around the city, but the CVT revs lower during a freeway cruise so it could be more economical in that regard.

I personally think there's no reason to change to a newer but essentially the same car. The only time to switch from manual to auto is if you're tired of shifting by yourself.

Isnt the Activ basically an ES with some extra equipment? I wouldnt recommend changing it. I mean as said, it is essentially the same car.

but if you are out to buy a car thats more fun, then what Irving (Ofey) suggested would be the best idea. Ralliarts would be the way to go.

Thats a good buy. But, in general, I have noticed that cars are cheaper in WA.

I always thought cars in NSW/QLD were the best bang for buck ;o

I was going to buy an evo 8 MR from over east because they were cheaper then the RA's here haha

On the contrary! I found 2nd hand cars here are more expensive then the eastern states. There are relatively less cars for sale here which means less competition.

the active is an es model with some functions and features mainly cosmetic from the upper models. Main ones being cosmetical you see from outside but then also audio controls on steering wheel, bluetooth handsfree phone control and leather wrapped steering wheel. If you see the car from outside you can see some major cosmetic differences. Best color to see this is in black with a lot of the chrome features really offset against the black.

i would even stretch and get a VRX with the bigger engine . or even a RA with a few on the clock . but an ES to activ is a so so upgrade .. purely cosmetic
