These cars are already lightened, some have roll cages, powered up to the max and dirt cheap. But, like I said you need a racing license. If you want to drive this car around as a daily driver to save k's on your lancer, then you will need a roadworthy car.
I intend on using the car as a semi-daily driver and so the wife can learn to drive a manual (she'll switch to the lancer on her P's as it's non-turbo). I really CBF importing. My budget is 10k ish for the car itself. I can save for mods later; but I don't want to take out a loan for the mods.
As for track drifting, Qld Raceway (I think... it's either that or another brisbane based track) has drift tuning days where you go out there with nothing but a car and a helmet and drift sections of the track all day; pulling over in designated zones to make changes where required. There's all levels from pros to those who have never got their car sideways before.
Also, there's skid pan days for $110 in brisbane.
And yes, my wife is awesome. She's just recently got into cars and is as happy talkin' bout cars with the guys as she is maxing out the credit card in shoe stores lol.
For the record, when I say "track" I mean "I'm conforming to Club CJ rules"; oh, and I'd never do it anywhere where persons or property could be damaged.
How much is a CAMS approved roll cage? lol.
