[/quote:7f1dcb989c] I can only assume youre talking about buying a brand new car for a track day / go fast project. But why would you do that? There are plenty of cheaper ways to go fast (faster than an 86) for less $$$ (or similar). 2nd hand evo 5/6 are around 15k. 2nd hand IXs 30 to 35k. Already a better track platform. Tuning capability of those is well known and easy. Re-tune for E85 and up boost, a cool 240kw in awd platform. Compare that to the 86/BRZ......tuning capability? Unknown. Boxer engine + high compression......hmm.. Dont get me wrong i really like this car. But for a cheap way onto the track. This isnt it. I cant wait for people to bring these to a track and get smashed by just about everything else. You want a real cheap, fun track car - 2nd hand mx-5. Again, dont get me wrong. I do really like this car. I just think people are looking at it the wrong way. It isnt going to be some awesome track car. It is a good sports cars. Most of them will live out their days on the roads much like new MX-5s, RX-8s, 350z/370z.... Give it time though and in 5+ years time they might make a good entry level track car.

oh i totally agree :) there are plenty of cheaper cars. But it's the whole experimentation thing I'm getting at. Because it is a brand new car theres the whole what can I do to it kind of mentality. I must admit I have no idea what I would do though if i got handed one of them :P

Yeah, jumping on something new and current does appeal to me.

But it is also a way to 'waste' money. I'll use the evo as an example, 5 years ago people were getting HKS Silent, Fujitsobu rm-01a exhausts. However now i doubt anyone would recommend them.

Same could happen with the 86/BRZ. I'd rather buy 1 exhaust than 3 over the life of the car as they improve upon the design.

Having read alot of thoughts here, I probably wouldn't buy this car brand new. Let's wait for some to turn up on the 2nd hand market and get it as a project car.

So is the BRZ going to be NA only or is there a turbo option?

released today? No, that was Toyota's official price unveiling and a promotional release party.

There was a question earlier about forced induction models, there is an STi model and it's likely to come out mid to late 2013 and it looks even sexier!

I saw a BRZ, grey coloured, coming out of Westpoint Blacktown carpark yesterday. I didn't know they were any in this country yet - first one I've seen in the flesh - so to speak. At first from the front I sort of thought it was a Hyundai Veloster, but looked a bit like a Genesis Coupe... then it struck me that the latter isn't for sale here, and when passed it, I looked back and saw the distinctive 86/BRZ rear end.

Heck, I might even have it captured on my dash cam. I'll go look through the footage.

Ryan, remember you NEVER buy a brand new release. You'll end up with no features.
