Sedan or Sportback
OK so i am looking at getting a VRX Lancer, I like the look of both the Sedan and the Sportback but i prefere the Sedan. but then i also like to be a little bit diffrent and i see that there arnt too many Sportbacks around.
what are peoples opion?

I really liked the look of the sportback and hated the sedan at first.
Then I saw both up close...and it was a complete roll reversal.
The sportback has a massive rear bumper that sticks out like a sore thumb, really quite put me off it. Yes the sedan has the same sort of bumper but it seems to flow a bit better with the car itself. Lowering also makes a massive difference to how the sedan looks - gives it a far better profile imo.
At the end of the day - it's really up to what suits your needs and how you think it looks though

I got the sedan because the hatchback wasnt released yet...But another reason was...i wouldnt have been able to fit my subs in the boot...
Plus, I dont like how the lines just break off towards the end of the boot with the hatch back. Just doesnt look completed. If they had used the tail lights like they had in the prototype it would of saved it for me.
Also i hear the sedan is lighter so maybe its quicker too.

Ummm, interesting question, its like asking whether if you would get a Ralliart or a WRX, an HSV or FPV, M3 or C63, the list goes on....
Anyways, its abit off track, so back on trakc here. Look i dont wanna offend anyone who alrady owns a sportsback or anything, so if you already own one, i suggest you turn your attention else where NOW.
Ok, no more sportsback owner here now ritie??
Right, in my opinion, the Lancer sportsback is in the same league in terms of ugliness along with the entire SSangyong lineup, it makes the 09WRX look like an Aston Martin DBS next to it, i mean the boot is ridiculous, and the car looks very out of proportion.
It also affects the handling of the car, its heavier, and is probably the worst car Mitsu have made since World War 2...There is also no way you can mod the car later should you chooose to go down that road, cos quite simply what can you do to a pig to make it pretty???
Having said that, i do give it to the Sportsback for its practicality, e.g. folding back seat, bigger boot, better rear vision (without the spoiler), but as far as looks goes, i just cant stand it.
Sedan on the other hand is the all round package in my opinion, to die for looks, sporty bodykit, evo spoiler, nice rims, and lowered and you have yourself a Jennifer Hawkins right there.......
But thats just my opinion.

No worries dejan - I think the sedan boot is too high.
Each to their own, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, to name a couple of relevant cliches.
I do disagree with your statement that the handling is different. How can it be? 60kg is a lot at Bathurst or in the Sandown 500 or at Gold Coast Indy car circuit, but it isnt that much for day to day driving. Tthey are on exactly the same floorpan/wheelbase and suspension set up...... so they can't be that different.
ps the Sportback boot is actually over 100 litres SMALLER than the sedan.....

it is intresting hearing other opions.
I like the Sportback because there is not many around (maybe for a reason i dont know) and yeah the bigger boot and stuff.
I like the Sedan for looks. and the privacy of the boot.
im gona (hopefully) take a Sportsback for a drive on Wed so i can compare the two.
i guess the other thing, Auto or Manual? i love the Manual coz ive driven an Auto for so long. but the autos are good for lazy driving.
