How you found out about ClubCJ: Google
This weekend I went looking for a new car to replace my white Ford Festiva 2000 1.3L hatchback; tried a Mazda 3 and didn't like the gear shift, tried an ES with the comfort option pack and loved it.
I placed on order on Saturday with a new car dealer who would have to get stock from the Mitsu holding yard... a white sportback. But after spending a frightful night on the net looking at pictures I realised I didn't like the look... I had simply picked what was similar to what I knew.
So I went around on Sunday looking at versions and sent off an SMS to the sales guy asking if I could switch to the blue sedan, which I adore. He said maybe and I'll find out Monday. I super, super, triple hope they let me change it and that their paperwork with Mitsu hasn't gone through yet. If I can get it, I'll put on some alloy wheels.
A big problem is that I have it parked next to my housemate who is a white Evo VII owner; worth twice the price for twice the performance (used though). I will feel crappy coming home to a white hatch version every day comparing them, but think I can definitely deal with a nice electric blue one.
So that's where I'm at. I'll post back when I hear from the dealer tomorrow whether they can do it or not. It's going to be a restless night!

Best of luck Cody .....
I think the dealer should be able to change your order from white sportsback to blue sedan.
Blue happens to be the most popular color on the Lancer, so that may cause a hiccup .... maybe.
Anyway "Welcome to ClubCJ" ..... you'll find a great bunch of members in Perth that will help you whenever you need and/or on this forum.

Yay, they were able to change it to the blue sedan.
The bad news is that it's a 2-3 week wait. Here's hoping it's sooner. I will try not to crash and kill myself in my current airbag-less car until then I just had a pretty horrible incident on the freeway on the way home... I can't wait to actually feel safe driving.
I'm trying to decide on rims now. What do you think about the 16" Motarvar? I saw some other Lancer's on the way home with the stock steel ones, and I feel like they make the car look really cheap instead of classy. What do you people think?

Vroom vroom! I picked up my car this afternoon and have been driving it since. It only had 5km on that clock... they didn't fill up the tank like the insinuated but instead put $25 worth in... but they also forget to charge me extra for the blue paint so I actually came out ahead $400 or so!
The stereo is better than I expected (surprised it only goes up to 45, though I doubt I'd ever have put it any higher anyway). And most importantly it has the stamp of approval from my teddy bear, mum, girlfriend, and housemate. The only thing my housemate had to say about it (being an Evo VII owner) is that I baby the engine too much.
Coming from the Festiva I'm used to shifting at 15, 40, 60, 80. Now it's meant to be more like 30, 60, 85, 120! That's going to take some getting used to, I'm not used to revving the engine so hard and firstly need to memorise those numbers.
Some negative points:
- You can't charge the iPhone over USB and play over Bluetooth at the same time (or it switches off shuffle and goes into alphabetic mode, which is what it does if you use it over USB too). But I can live with that and get an external charger.
- I have a very small scratch on my windscreen from the wipers. Not sure how that happened, dust I suppose. No big deal.
- I nearly scraped the left and right sides while reverse parking in my own driveway because I was consumed by the reversing camera. I also nearly hit cars a bunch of times overtaking on the freeway because I have never used convex/concave mirrors before. I've also been caught out by all the blind spots, especially the driver's mirror and rear driver's pillar.
- Also the odometer appears to be down 5km across the whole range (I trued at 30, 60, and 100). I confirmed this with GPS. Lots of people were angrily tailgating me on the freeway, the bastards.
- Also the windows don't wind themselves up when you lock the car externally. Then I noticed too late and had to get back in and start the car back up just to wind up the windows so I could walk away. Heh.
All niggles. I'm surprised at how much I'm enjoying it so far, and can't wait to get to know all the other little nooks and crannies. I'm sleeping with the owner's manual tonight and tomorrow I'll read up on using the info monitor.
