I would be keen if they made the 2.0L more fuel efficient; Mazda seems to be doing OK with their SkyActiv technology.

Hippie?! :P Paying for fuel for a 3.5L V6 that likes to consume over 17L/100 when being driven spiritedly (see: Like I stole it) gets old :P

I've been looking for an old Mini. My old Mini to be exact :) I want it back :) Anyhoo......

The Skyactivs have knocked the fuel consumption from mid 8s to around 6/100km. The Mazdas had a high consumption in the first place. One of the reasons I got the Lancer. I get between 6 and 7 on the Lancer usually anyway.

A few people on my Mazda forum have them and they reckon the handling, gear changes and all that is much better than on the previous model. The I-stop or whatever is a bit funny at first but you get used to it.

The Skyactiv tech is getting rolled out across the entire range so a Mazda 2 with the new engine would be great. The original numbers on the fuel consumption on a 2 with skyactiv went from around 6 to between 3 and 4L/100km. They said that they would be able to halve the consumption. We'll just have to see though. They were going to bring the 2s out in it before the rest of the range but they brought the 3 out instead. The 6 may be next apparently.

I want a Skyactiv rotary. It's supposed to bring the consumption of the rotary from 12.2 down to around 6 or 7. Unfortunately they're dumping the RX8 next year but the buzz is that they are putting the rotary in an MX5. RMX5 maybe? :)

And who'd want a Prius? The money you'd save in fuel wouldn't matter after you've paid twice the price of a normal car that size anyway to save that money. Not worth it. And a second hand one could want the batteries replaced and that's an expensive operation in itself.

That was part of the joke, only stupid people get prius's :P

If you want economy you need small. And to a lesser extent, technology.

I have no problem with people buying tiny cars for economy.
But I get annoyed when people buy big cars and because of one little thing (hybrid. Or a diesel engine) its hurrrr saving the wurld.

Yes, but if you didn't buy a large sedan or FWD, you could be saving it a lot more.

Every time I see a Prius I think of that episode of South Park with all the Smug instead of Smog :)

I do love their feature with the solar panels where you can turn the air con on remotely before you get to the car so it's all nice and cool when you get in. Something we all need I reckon :)
