Rally Armor mud flaps without side skirts - Your opinion?

Postby BrownSound » Mon Sep 12, 2011 5:53 pm

I have been thinking of getting mud flaps for a while now, but I am not sure how good it will look on my car which doesn't have any air-dams/side skirts and 16" OEM alloys on it.

Just wanted to get peoples opinions on it.

A car with sideskirts will always look better in my eyes, but having nothing is worse.

If anything, it will help with the mud and stone splash. Does make the car look beefier from the back...

Thanks David - I've been looking around for ages for photos with them on a car without side skirts.

You've given me what I need to push me over the line :)

Now just to find a good deal.

Hey DJBOOBY: question how did you install your Rally Armor mud flap with the oem mud flap together? More so, I would like to know what modifications if any did you do to get both to fit together. Many thanks in advance. ^_^

Yep yep. I'll wait for your return later in the afternoon. Though, can you for each of the photo's describe what I'm looking at. Plus when you said you had to re drill the back ones. What do you mean?

All or any information would be most valuable. As I too also plan to have both attached on my ES when mine arrive. Many thanks in advance. ^_^

ok it been a while but here what i think i did

line mudflap up with OEM
Image
now you will need a spirit level or someone to tell you if it straight
with a pen mark the outline of the OEM mudflap
Image

remove OEM mudflap place on outline and mark the hole onto rally armor

you will need to drill a hole in OEM mudflap for one screw

hope this help

Thank you for the photos. I was thinking of having it flush along the body, but I'll see how I feel once I get the flaps.

The photos have been quite helpful. Is it my understanding but you reused the old screws, for the back wheels?

Also concerning making a hole into the oem mudflaps, is it for the back or front? or both?

Many thanks. ^_^

Mine don't sit flushed - I tihnk it gives the car a more aggressive stance from the rear when the guards stick out - wider body look. Also.. by not sitting flush they actually stop the stones form flying up :P

only for the back flaps the front fit as stranded using the same hole as OEM flaps
