2012 Lancer Updates

Postby milobob » Tue Oct 25, 2011 4:10 pm

http://www.caradvice.com.au/143094/2012 ... y-edition/

Fuel usage has dropped from 7.6L/100km to 6.8L/100km for the manual and from 8.2L/100km to 7.2L/100km for the CVT (auto). For the base model ES, Mitsubishi has improved the door trim, adding soft touch plastics but the dashboard and instrument cluster remain relatively unchanged. An extra $970 will get you the convinence pack which adds reversing camera (embedded into the rear view mirror), Bluetooth telephone connectivity and steering wheel audio and phone controls.

For those going for the Lancer VR range, the exterior look has been updated with front corner air dams while reversing camera and sensors come standard.

VRX models gain the Ralliart style front bumper and grille, plus new 18″ alloy wheels and leather seat trim. Aspire gains the same alloys but with new interior decoration. The two performance variants, Ralliart and Evolution X, get gloss black interior decoration.

30th Anniversary models are based on the VR and gain leather seats with heated front seats plus power driver’s seat and privacy glass.

All Lancer variants come standard with active stability control, dual front, side and curtain and driver’s knee SRS airbags and ABS braking system with Electronic Brake Force Distribution. The Mitsubishi Lancer range earns the highest five-star ANCAP safety rating.

the ralliart bumper on vrx equivalent models has been around for ages in other markets... we seem to be the last to get it so nothing new there...

Most of these are correct but the is a few features that are missing on the Lancer Aspire, also the new colors that are being released.
Looking for that ultimate ride??

OH whats new on the aspire? Reversing camera standard I think? What do they mean by softer materials? I assume this is the part just under the windows on the doors?

@milobob: Nothing to get depressed about. If you don't like the feeling of your car being without features, wait till the end of the cycle of each car before buying.

Anyone who buys a Lancer in 2012 will see a new bodyshape by 2013.

So what happens then?
More depressing then.

I feel if you buy a car when you need it, there's not much regret there.

The VRX would be on most peoples hit list i would imagine, with the RA front, theres not many mods you would have to do lol.
Im hoping even more i get my retrenchment package from work next year now :)

Love the Ralliart nose on the VRX.

It's definitely true that the CJ Lancer is nearing the end of the line. There is a lot of more modern and upcoming small car competition, so Mitsubishi needs to keep up. The plan of attack is with special editions which provide better value for money. The only other car, off the top of my head, which is similarly old is the Toyota Corolla.

I'm intrigued about the reduced fuel consumption though. How did they manage to get that?

Reduced fuel consumption with the same engine?

I'm going to assume its got to do with a change in the maps.

I can't wait to read one of the ECU maps.

Yea, taller last gear or something similar. At least they are trying to keep in line with the competition.

One thing I hope is in the new 2013 Lancer is more soft touch materials. The new Impreza has them, so if the Lancer doesn't Mitsubishi might as well be the only car without soft touch materials!

The corolla is due for a upgrade i believe next year. They still use a 4 speed auto but expect a 5 or 6 speed auto in the next corolla model
