So much for the "Awesome" Paint protection!!!

Not happy. I don't really have any info on what the paint protection entitles me to...but surely they will fix it?

Paint protection doesn't cover you from paint chips.

Honestly, dealer's paint protection is a rip off.

On the bonnet. Yeah I just asked the dealer and he said its only really for bird droppings and things like that. I'm actually tempted to colour it in with black marker...its tiny...but I notice it every time now

I think I might actually just get a black marker and put a dot of texture ink on there :S

oem paint protection is useless imo.. huge waste of money

our lancers don't come standard with rust protection but it's an addon at point of sale or aftermarket

you can get a 15ml(?) bottle of touch up paint for about $15 and just cover it up that way, black i guess you could use a marker as it'd look pretty much the same

Unfortunately stone chips happen and stones will always be stronger than paint :( We got the paint protection simply cause it guarantees against bat poo (quite a bit out our way and our RA is always parked in the driveway)

No matter what car it is, paint is now softer these days and much more prone to paint chips. :)

As the industry changes to save lives, costs and the environment - it has changed from the old days of solid two-pac paint to a water based two-pac paint. In short, that is why our paint is thinner and more prone to chipping. And in case you are wondering why Euro cars that have 'prestige' paint on there is less prone to chipping, it is because they have more layers of paint have use a slightly harder resin. :)

Correct me if I'm wrong - but that's just a little helpful bit of info :).

I had paint chips within a few weeks of purchasing my car. It sucks, but not much you can do. I travelled to dubbo from Sydney yesterday hate to think how many extra paint chips i have picked up over the weekend
