Hi All,
Just wanted to introduce myself. Name's Miller and currently eagerly awaiting delivery of a SX. This would be the first car I've ever bought. Although its actually a surprise birthday present for the Missus.
I'm the kinda guy who doesn't mind the odd DIY. Infact, I'm already looking for a MMCS to drop in to the SX when I get it. Yes, even before I've even seen the car
So hello to all!!

Thanks for the welcome guys.
@Fitter : Was thinking aftermarket would not have all features/build quality of OEM. Yes its heaps cheaper, i know. May be its time I hit ebay . Advice or recommendations are gratefully appreciated.

Thanks again guys.
Been reading mixed reviews about MMCS.
@China: Apart from restrictions when moving, what else is iffy on the MMCS?
MMCS is a bit dear as well though. 3k+!!! new. Cant really find a second hand one that easily.
Was looking at a few aftermarket ones on ebay and seems like about 2-3 designs exist. Anyone with experience with these?
Also are there any branded setups that fit the CJ? like Pioneer or Clarion or something?

Hey Amila, welcome to club CJ!
The MMCS isn't that bad. There are a few really crappy things about it such as: very expensive brand new, restricted functions while driving, screen quality not so great, can't click and play a song in the list view, sticks out with the OEM install, no internal hard drive, no USB/memory card integration, some problems pairing with phones etc etc.
But overall, it is a pretty good unit. Its maps/GPS/guidance is very good, it has a lot of lancer specific functions such as controlling the environment and settings, it has a lot of information about speed, travel distance, average fuel consumption, trip times etc etc, and it makes your interior look a lot better! (especially when you sink it back).
If you keep an eye out here, Ofey (Irving) sometimes has second hand MMCS units for sale, although you gotta be quick, they go pretty fast. If you're buying brand new, I'd probably look into after market. There are plenty of better units out there for a lot cheaper and with the leftover money you could get an entire new sound system as well. Although none of the units out there will look as "factory" as the MMCS.
That being said, if you do manage to snap up a cheap second hand MMCS, the install is very, very easy. You will also find that it sticks out a lot and you can sink it back quite easily too.

Hey millerz,
Like Ali said there are a lot of functions and gadgets which are lancer specific but the asking price is a bit high and while the user restrictions in motion are annoying at times it is a decent system (I guess safety should come first). As Ofey pointed out (thanks - didn't know there was a kit available), there is a kit on the market to eliminate these problems and there is a 'how to' for the install in the forum (but watching DVD's while driving is just irresponsible - my opinion anyway).

Thanks again @China and @Alileighju. Need to do some more reading to consider which way to go.
@DORA_ANNE hehe yeah, shes in for a surprise alright. In all fairness though, cant say I'm not excited about it as well .
