Blue footwells when all other backlights are red??

Postby craigeth » Fri May 27, 2011 12:42 pm

Just wondering, for those of you with blue footwell lights, how they look even though the dash info, clock, cd info and all other backlighting on the dash is red..

I was thinking of putting blue footwell LEDs in but I don't want them to clash. Thought maybe I'll just go get red ones to match everything else.

If you look at my car in the garage, you will see that I have all my footwell lights and the light behind my grill in blue. My boot also has blue neons.

The way I see it only anything above the trim line is red. Anything under that I've kept blue.

Doesn't really bug me.

The problem only comes when people have multi color arrangements.

The front are OEM. installed by the dealer as part of my purchase. I opted for that as my "sweetener".

The rear are just normal neon tubes 8" ones which I piggy backed onto the front ones so they all turn on at the same time.

The grill has a NEON bar 22" and a 22" LED array as well.

Neon tubes you can get from any of the 3 motor shops. Look for Aerpro ones.
LEDs are brighter though and have more glare. Neons tend to give a more diffused type of light which suit cabins more.

Alternatively if you want them bright just get a bunch of LEDs from oznium

I've got blue footwell lights and I think it looks fantastic. It's nice to have another colour other than red in the interior! My girlfriend's 10 year old brother thinks it looks cool and her father thinks it looks like a nice looking UFO :P

I am tempted to get the oem footwell lights installed, however was tempted to get red to match the instrument cluster. Anyone else here have red footwell lights?? Would like some feedback?

In my point of view, red is just not a calming colour.

Sure it will match the clusters but the contrast with blue also works.

As I pointed out, everything above the dash line RED. Everything below it, blue?

For me it works.

I have Blue super LED's around the front footwell's in my car and blue super LED's lighting up my grill (Thanks for the idea OFEY it looks amazing) and having the dash red does not bother me either =)

Yes, I've got red oem footwell lights. Just had the car for less than 24hrs now..so my feedback would be that 'I LOVVE ITT'!! lol
But yea.. like Ofey said..blue might work for some...its really a personal choice IMO :)

I have fitted blue LED to all 4 of my footwells. I am very happy how they look.

The best thing with LED's is if you want to change colour you just disconnect them and fit another colour.

This looks awesome! I think I'll definitely be getting red ones after seeing the pic in your garage

another suggestion is change out the backlights on your dash if you really want blue, i couldnt stand the RED so i swapped them out for Blue, i did somewhat of a write up but if you want to get a quick glance at it check out my garage with the Blue Dash lights instead of the crappy Red,

Agreed with Ofey tho, it doesnt look bad to say its actually a nice offset imo.

but its up to you, i personally didnt like the red lights so BAM they are gone... almost
