I think Slash means that the dealer principal means that it shouldn't do it. It is not common in the sense that every car does it, and that it shouldn't be fixed like you were told Steve :)

What Shane said... but yeah.. nearly 50% is bloody high

Justin.. might want to take in before service so they can order in the vents if they dont have them on site.

Mine had to be ordered in.. arrived same day.. but if I waited would have wasted a whole day at the service center.

My 2010 activ has had this problem with the drivers side vent since picking it up from the dealer brand new. Didn't realize it was so common, I think I'll be making a phone call tomorrow!

Mine does the same thought it was just mine that did this i point it towards me & it ends up pointing at the roof all on it's own. I'll be taking mine back to Nundah Mitsubishi for its 45,000k service so I will get onto the about it. Glad it's not just mine that does this.

Ok today I received a new drivers side air vent from my dealer to replace mine under warranty as mine slowly moves to the ceiling after pointing down.

I pulled my old one apart to see how the mechanism works. There is no spring to hold into place. It is all done by friction.

If you want to fix the vent and you are handy with your hands you could melt some of the plastic clips to increase friction. This could be done with a soldering iron or hot blade.
