Hmm... haven't read this thread for a while, allow me to add my 78c...
*insert words of varying colours and sizes to get their point across*
It sounds like the record set by Sam and the other NSW'men was made at an all day meet in one single location. This would allow for people to come and go all day, at their own convenience. Our event is rather special in that it is not a boring one spot wonder like the NSW one, we have at least 3 planned stops across a journey of close to 150km. This involves team work, people to show at designated areas at designated times, and also being the open minded and considerate bunch that we are, also allows all makes, models, colours, age, and personality of both car and human, member or not.
Getting 30+ people to show up at a set single destination any time within an 8 hour period is easy. Getting a diverse mix of people to take the same journey, surrounded by friends and strangers, well, that is something that can be off putting to people.
Regardless of number at this event, it will set a real benchmark to be beaten.
