LED or CCFL Angel Eyes?

Our vendor AutoMoGlow has CCFL on special fomr $100 to $80 and I think $15 shipping to AU. How much will concord customs charge for labour?

They said it was $250 for the LEDs and the labour is still $350. Only issue with supplying my own is that if anything goes wrong CC will just blame AMG, and I won't really have much power to make a "warranty" claim.

I gave Queen St a call and he said he would need to source them for me so couldn't give a price straight away. But as a "rough" estimate for labour he was saying around $200. If that turns out to be the case it sounds great to me.

I want the CCFL ones. I've read the how tos and I think my headlight assemblies will have an appointment with the BBQ hood (as my oven is too small). LOL
As for the wiring... figuring that out how I want wire it all up. I think I might need an extra 2 ballasts/inverters to achieve what I want...

I've been reading around about LED rings (where the LEDs shine through the ring giving the same look as CCFL), but haven't been able to find ones for the lancer. These should last a lot longer than the CCFLs and you won't need multiple ballasts.

I've seen led ones for the lancers which are more like the audi ones where you can see a dozen or so individual leds around the ring. I've also heard of custom made ones where you bend a sanded perspex tube into a ring, drill a hole in one end of it and fit in a single led. Cant imagine it being as bright as the ccfl though

Umm, change the grille plate over to two hot plates. Stick a rack so the assembly has no contact with the plate - maintain temp...should be fine! ... or so the plan is... otherwise there'll be tears before bedtime.

I'm wanting to light each CCFL independantly if that makes sense. Each ballast has 1 power input and two HV outputs for each CCFL on each side. Need to have a quick HV charge to energise the gas and then maintain a normal voltage to maintain the exicted gas....
I dont like the LEDs, just doesn't look right for my personal preference.

i have just read this post and i thought that i would explain how our prices.

yes our prices used to be $450 which had LED rings installed and wired to the parker lights, but the prices have gone up due to getting a new supplier of LED rings which are of a higher quality and better warranty.

prices on rings used to be $200, but the new supplier costs us $250. another supplier from america for CCFL rings costs us approximately $250 with shipping

our installation prices have increased due to the amount of hours required to complete teh installation.

for example, if someone shooses an option with $250 rings, the price for installation will be $600.

the break down is like this

SUPPLY AND INSTALLATION INCLUDING GST = $600
GST APPLIED = $545.45
COST OF PARTS = $250

COST IN LABOUR = $545.45 - $250 = 295.45

AMOUNT OF HOURS TO COMPLETE JOB = 4

AMOUNT CHARGED PER HOUR = $295.45 DIVIDED BY 4 = $73.86 PER HOUR

our normal ourly rate for custom work is $130 plus GST, but we obviously give a discount for Club CJ members.

i hop that explains alot to people as to why we have had to raise our prices.

no nothing as ricey as that.
Just link the halo around the low beams to the parkers. So when the parkers are lit, that low beam halo is on but the high beam halos are off.
However when the low beam headlights are on, i want to cut power to the low beam halo and power up the high beam halo - gotta figure that out.
Still a thought in my head at the moment...

Thanks for taking the time to explain Chris, on the warranty side of things would this install/AEs themselves come with a 1 year warranty or would it be more in the likes of 2 years?

I am concerned that after paying $600 that these will only last a short while (which has seemed to happen from what I've read). When you are only paying say $100 for the AMG ones, 1 year seems reasonable, but for $600 I would like them to last longer. I'm not sure if that is an unrealistic expectation though :S

- slightly thicker than the Oracle halos @ 4mm (noticable to me)"

That being said tho, at the time the gadgetmaster site was down and had a look now and it doesn't have CCFL that i can see.... so it's all moot.

CCFL's are hit and miss, they are good, but not as good as LED.

CCFL will give you that continuous ring (light) but getting a solid looking ring with LED is all dependant on how many LED's are in the ring.

Longevity wise, LED's will be far superior over CCFL's.
