Regular NSW meets & locations, suggestions, thoughts, id

Postby The X » Thu Jun 16, 2011 10:54 pm

Hi guys,

I've been meaning to get this post up for a while ago (and even made mention that I was going to this about a month ago in the comm discussion) - but unfortuantely, various other issues have distracted me and this fell by the wayside. Aplogies.

It was RAwannabe's post ( http://clubcj.net/viewtopic.php?t=8379 ) that sparked me to get off my arse and finally get around to posting this.

We've had an influx of keen and eager NSW members who seem to be up for some mini-meets of a "meet and greet" type nature. At this stage, I'd want to try and organise something roughly every 3 weeks (on average) with a view to ramp this up a bit more frequently if there is demand for it and as the weather warms up.

We all know Sydney is crap at the best of times, in terms of long distances, it takes forever to get to anywhere due to the traffic and geography. Everyone seems to be time poor and not willing to invest the time to drive to the other side of Sydney on a regular basis.

So for the purpose of these mini-meets, I'd like to rotate the meet locations so they are roughly central to 3 imaginary regions for NSW. Probably something like, "Greater Sydney Metro/South", "West/North West", "North Beach/Central Coast" - I'm open to suggestions, there is no rigid boundaries and one person in one region is NOT prevented from making the effort to travel. The imginary regions are just there so we rotate fairly to give everyone a chance to get to a meet.

So what I'm asking from you, is for locals with local knowledge to scout out or suggest suitable places to meet that are car friendly, legal (no trespassing) and is not likely to give us any hassles from nieghbours/police/council rangers, anti-social troublemakers, etc.

Feel free to suggest locations with a Google Map reference if possible in this thread...

I'll go first suggesting one possibility...

Harry's Cafe de Wheels in Tempe. (Greater Sydney Metro/South)
Has ample parking, I don't think they would mind as long as we buy stuff off them.
Google Maps: http://bit.ly/ky3lFS (I use http://bit.ly to shorten the rather long google maps links... )

If you have any questions, suggestions, thoughts, blurt them out in this thread....

Its times like these i wish we had place like garage cafe in melbourne...

but i would be keen on the mini meets to finally meet some of the members. as people suggested, olympic park seems like a great idea with the great lighting for photoshoots sessions and what not.

Thornleigh McDonalds (aka TLM) is a popular place for those who live around the Hills area.

Also from stories from CCJ veterans I hear that Norwest McDonalds was also a popular meet location.

For those further west there is a Kebab shop open 'til very late in St Martins Village on the corner of Blacktown Rd and St Martins Cres.

I'd be happy to drive to Olympic park for a meet every now and then as well.

Why don't we just meet somewhere good in the middle of the 3 proposed regions (Which could possibly ended up being in the CBD or somewhere around there LOL). Then maybe we can cruise around after the meet.....just my thoughts though
