Help- How take off tail light's red lens?????

Postby niro86 » Mon Jun 06, 2011 7:14 pm

Hi CJ's
I have spare red tail lights and thinking to remove the plastic pink lens and paint inside black. But I not sure how to take off these lenses. Any hints and tips to balck out these lights. ( Paint? masking?, surface preparation?) Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, they are sealed tight and they are unlike the headlights which are easier to reseal.

You do have to dremel the glue apart from the casing unfortunatly

Save up for LEDs Niro haha, they are awesome as you would have undoubtedly seen on the cruise. If you prefer the black OEM tail lights look I'll give you mine for cheap.

VHT is painted on the outside of the light so you do not have to pull them apart.

Be warned VHT is EXTREMELY illegal no matter what anyone else says, it also means that if anyone runs into the back of you you will be deemed as at fault as you brake lights are no longer clearly visible. Also insurance companies love nightsides as it gives them an excuse to NOT pay your insurance claim.

Happy painting ;).

I suspect the rear tail light are not welded but rather the lenses molded around the back.
