Thanks guys. Got a mate to check it out today who whilst not a mechanic, regularly tracks his 2008 Evo X MR. Brake discs are fine based on the ridge/rim. However brake pads will definitely need replacing in the very near future.

I'll get a proper mechanic to check it out as soon as I can but at least I have one independent opinion who said that I shouldn't be too worried.

If you're going to replace your pads and rotors, look at aftermarket options (there's plenty out there).

Combination I'm looking at is EBC redstuff pads and either DBA or EBC rotors.

Either combination will come in much cheaper than the $3 - $4 k you were quoted.
Cheers,
John

Did you check to see if your discs were actually warped? Is is easy to check if you have a dial indicator.

I checked with a couple of people who said they look fine but when I get the pads installed by V-Sport, I'll ask John to have a look.

mmmm ferodo DS2500 , thats what i'm going aswell , heard great things about it :)

my stock pads needs replacing already , brakes all grindy now , like theres metal contact so i'd better do it asap lol

@ Alan : just give V-sport or any other vendor a call and say you want Ferodo DS2500 for your car model , should be no problem getting the right part

Sorry can't help you- tried to figure it out from Evooz forum but there's an assumption that whoever you buy from will know (on the basis that they're an official distributor and hence are very 'in the know').

From reading a couple of sites (i.e. lancershop and map), it appears the model numbers are:

FRP3067H - Front (Evo 8/9/X)
FCP4168H - Rear (X only)

Source URL:
http://www.lancershop.com/customer/prod ... 121&page=1
http://www.lancershop.com/customer/prod ... 121&page=1
http://www.maperformance.com/ferodo-ds2 ... evo-x.html
http://www.maperformance.com/ferodo-ds2 ... 68h-n.html

Note that I accept NO LIABILITY if the above information is incorrect- it's my guess based on seeing the part number included on both websites above.

Also remember that this is for Evo X. There are different parts for other models and potentially even the RA is different.

BEST TO CHECK WITH YOUR DISTRIBUTOR/SELLER (or just buy from an official licensed distributor who will know for sure which parts suit your needs).
