FS: Rexspeed CF Gauge Pod (USED for 1wk) for $60 ONO **SOLD*

Postby JaCe » Thu Apr 21, 2011 11:43 pm

EDIT: SOLD!

Hi all, I am selling my Rexspeed Carbon Fibre Gauge Pod which I have used in my Evo for <1 week before taking it out due to it not being suitable for my needs- i.e. it blocks the manual gear display in the SST and it also causes the gauge face on my AEM gauge to touch the steering wheel.

ITEM:[s] Rexspeed Evo X Steering Wheel Carbon Pod (note: will fit CJ lancers)[/s]

LOCATION: Sydney, Australia

ITEM CONDITION: Nearly new- used for <1 wk

REASON FOR SELLING: Unsuitable for my needs (and did not fit my AEM boost gauge); see warning below.

PRICE AND PAYMENT CONDITIONS: $60 ONO for pick-up. (note that brand new RRP is $109usd!) and I require a $10 deposit via online transfer.

This is because I have been stood up a few times and am not in the mood to waste a Saturday (again) hanging around for someone to meet.

SHIPPING AND POSTAL ARRANGEMENTS: Pick-up in Sydney ONLY for now. If I do not get interest then I'll consider shipping it in the box it originally came in. As product is quite light and has a lot of bubblewrap, it'll probably work out to be circa $10 to post.

EXTRA INFO:
* Suitable for 52mm gauges but can be sanded down to take larger gauges
* There are slight markings underneath the CF which were there when purchased brand new from rexspeed- these will NOT be visible when installed since they are underneath the cover which sits on top of your steering wheel column
* You will need to drill a hole in the top panel of your steering wheel column (or alternatively cut a bit off the CF pod) for wiring to fit through
* Gauge hole is not perfectly in the centre; refer to pictures below.

CONTACT INFO: PM me here or post in this thread so I can get a timestamp.

WARNING
This product has serious deficiencies if you are intending to use in an Evo X MR for the following reasons:

1. Gauge pod WILL block the bottom half of your dash display (but not your tacho/speedo) depending on your height- this means that you can't see which gear you're in when driving in manual mode on the SST. For me this was an issue since Evo X steering wheels can't be adjusted for reach nor can the seats be height adjusted hence I couldn't do anything else.

2. In the Evo X, the gauge pod is NOT suitable for gauges which have a thick bezel or are not flush mount such as the AEM line of digital gauges. This is due to the bezel protruding out from the gauge pod and blocking the steering wheel which cannot be adjusted for reach in the Evo. In CJ Lancers this should not be an issue since you can adjust the reach.

For more information refer to my thread: http://clubcj.net/viewtopic.php?t=7818

I trust that my FOR SALE thread has been as forthcoming with the issues as possible- and I wish I had seen something similar to this before I purchased it.

Also if you are too scared to drill into/rip apart the OEM steering wheel column plastic, I am happy to throw in my spare pre-cut (courtesy of LZY_EYE's work) for $20. This way you can always revert back to stock later on.

Sure, what's your postcode. Shouldn't be too expensive to ship since it's very very light and I have the original box it came in so it's nicely padded.

To be honest I haven't gotten a shipping price quote as I need to bring it to Australia Post but I don't think it'll be more than $5. If it's less than that I'll refund the difference, and if it's more than that I'll just absorb it unless it becomes unreasonable.

If that sounds ok for you, let me know and we can proceed with that.

yep it just saves me having to take the box there, weigh it (it's too light for me to weigh using the 'difference between my weight with/without the box' method), and then coming back and posting, then going back to post office, etc...

i pm'd u my email addy. let me know if u didn't get it.

Hi Tye, apologies but someone has committed to buying the gauge pod and as I still have not yet heard from you (and it has been a few days since you confirmed receiving my contact details) with a firm commitment, I have no choice but to let the other person who PM'd me to have this.
