Ralliart Bodykit and Int/Ext-ernal Conversion Guide
Background *DRAFTING*
We're seeing this regular occurrence of new members with naturally aspirated (NA) Lancers wanting to convert the look of their rides into that of a Ralliart or Evo X.
The Evo X conversion is NOT a direct bolt on and requires quite abit of machining as the chassis between a NA/RA Lancer and an Evo are different.
So for those too lazy to read:
NA body -> OEM RA bodykit = DIRECT BOLT ON
NA body -> OEM Evo bodykit = NOT DIRECT BOLT ON
The NA Lancer can easily be converted to a RA Lancer externally. Though, you might want to buy an RA outright to save yourself the cost and also *gain* the AWD turbo.
Protected Parts
Most of the Ralliart parts are "protected".
To purchase the main parts such as the bare bumper bars and the hood, most dealerships will request for a valid RA VIN.
This is NOT always the case but there has been sufficient reports to suggest the restriction of sales on these parts.
Intention of this Thread
There have been countless new posts and questions asking about this. I wanted to create a one stop post to help everyone, so not only me but helpful users can direct questions here.
How this thread is organised
In this post, I will address all the parts you will need to make the conversion from a NA to a RA Look.
These are the different sections for the conversion:
1. Front Bumper Bar
2. Rear Bumper Bar
3. Hood
4. Steering Wheel
5. Center Panel Suggestion
1. Front Bumper Bar
The front bumper bar of a Ralliart is completely different from the one off a NA Lancer.
You cannot reuse any parts from your current ES/Activ/SX/VR/Platinum Ed./VRX/Olympic Ed./Aspire (General NA) front bumper bar.
Here is a front bumper bar from a NA Lancer:
Note how the white centrepiece is ONE piece with the bumper bar.
Here is the RA Front Bumper bar:
ALTOGETHER different!
The place to observe is where the front lip ends.
YOU CANNOT SIMPLY BUY THE CHROME RING. IT WON"T FIT ON.
If you've seen them on NA Lancers, they're actually a Chrome tape stuck around the grill area to make them look like the RA. It's something like this:
which you can get in any autobarn/supercheap/repco.
Yes the VRX has front pods which may make it hard for you to tell but if you look in the middle section, you can see this squarish front end while the RA curves more. So point to add, you cannot add the front pods onto a RA and neither will bodylips for a NA lancer go onto a RA.
Now before I lay on the prices, there is some good news in that there are some parts you can reuse : The screws and clips.
I will provide in due course part numbers of EVERYTHING You need to get a RA front bumper bar look and the prices:
RA Front Bumper Bar (Full Quote):
1. MI6400D865
RRP = A$508+
CCJ Price = A$455
2. 7415A148 MARK-THREE-DIA (Mitsu Diamond)
RRP= A$31+
CCJ Price = A$28
3. 6400B510XA COVER-FR BUMPER BLACK TOW HOOK COVER
RRP = A$10.80+
CCJ Price = A$9
4. 6400B398 GARNISH-FR BUMPER-CTR CHROME (Trimming Cover)
RRP = A$428+
CCJ Price = A$350
5. 7450A306 GRILLE-RADIATOR-RH D-W-GREY (Upper Grill R)
RRP = A$37.80+
CCJ Price = A$32.50
6. 7450A307 GRILLE-RADIATOR-LH D-W-GREY (Upper Grill L)

CCJ Price = A$48
7. MI-6400B397 GRILLE-FR BUMPER D-W-GRAY (Bottom Grill)

CCJ Price = A$45
8. MI-8321A198 LAMP ASSY-FOG-FR R+L (Fog Lamps)
RRP = A$405+ each
CCJ Price = A$335 each = A$670 pair
So 2 sides will be A$670

RRP = A$26.50+
CCJ Price = A$25
10. MI-8321A124 GARNISH-FR BUMPER-RH
RRP = A$26.50+
CCJ Price = A$25
11. 5370A439 SHIELD-FR FENDER SPLASH-FR LH + RH (Wheel Well Inner Lining)
RRP = A$182.20+ (Pair)
CCJ = A$170
12. 5379A255 COVER-ENG ROOM UNDER-FR (Engine Under Cover)

CCJ = A$100.00
RRP Total = A$2,488.64 (Ex VIC)
CCJ Total = A$1,990.00 (Ex VIC)
Vox Total = A$990 (Parts Only) + Shipping
On top of all that you need a variety of additional clips and screws.
2. Rear Bumper Bar
For the rear bumper bar, the main consideration would be the muffler.
On the day you attempt to put on a RA rear bumper bar, you will find that the NA rear muffler will NO LONGER fit but it will mount for you to use.
So in truth you need to call in on an exhaust shop soon after fitting the rear bumper bar.
You will have two options:
a. Custom twin exhaust
or
b. The OEM RA rear muffler. To the best of my knowledge this is the same muffler on the rear end of an Evo X.
1571A544 Muffler Exhaust main
RRP=$379.00+
CCJ=A$325.00
If you want to go so far as to change your center pipe as well to the RA one,
1570A953 Pipe Exhaust Center
RRP=A$513+
CCJ=A$425.00
If like me someone reversed into your rear and you can get an insurance replacement of your rear bumper bar, the RA bumper bar is actually marginally cheaper than a NA bumper bar
Additionally, it's important to point out that it again comes in white, so if you have a white car, no painting is required. All other colors tough luck!
There is one part that is reused here which is the rear reflectors.
Once again though, in some cases, you'll need a VIN to purchase it.
Pricing of Rear Bumper Bars
NA->
6410B223WA - Face Kit - RR Bumper- White
RRP=A$512.00+
CCJ=A$480.00
RA->
6410B565WA - Face Kit-RR Bumper-White
RRP=A$510.00+
CCJ=A$505.00
The NA bumper bar attracts a bigger discount than the RA bumper bar.
But from their RRP you can see, the RA is strangely cheaper.
3. Hood
The vented hood is constructed of lightweight aluminium.
The RA and Evo bonnets are also the same part.
Here are the parts and prices:
5900A244 - Hood
RRP=A$1040+
CCJ=A$995
5915A104 - Insulator Hood (=61468B)
RRP=A$126+
CCJ=A$120
5915A077 - Insulator Hood (=61468C)
RRP=A$62.40+
CCJ=A$60
5903A004WA - Garnish HD Air Inlet-White/Blk
RRP=A$220+
CCJ=A$190
5903A005HD - Garnish Hood Air Outlet LH
RRP=A$196.00+
CCJ=A$175
5903A006HD - Garnish HD OutL RH-D-W-GRY
RRP=A$196.00+
CCJ=A$175
Subtotal->
RRP=A$1840.40+
CCJ=A$1715.00
4. Steering Wheel
These are a plug and play replacement. The shape and form is different but all operational plugs are the same.
Here are parts you will require:
4400A488 Wheel ASSY STRNG 3 SPOKE LTHR
RRP=A$615.00+
CCJ= A$598.00
7030A043 Module Air Bag
RRP=A$800.00+
CCJ=A$755.00
8701A193 Vol Control
8602A016 Cruise Control
8750A122 BT
RRP= A$129+ each
CCJ= A$105 each
Subtotal = A$315.00
Total for steering wheel = A$1,668
5. Center Panel Suggestion
First off, there is no way to transfer the gear shift surround of a SST set up to a MT NA Lancer.
It is also not possible to "direct bolt on" the gear shift surround and shifter to a CVT either. However it is possible with alot of cutting and adaptation.
The simpler conversion here centers on the change of the coin change holder behind the gear shift:
The item pops out by pulling gently backwards.
This can then be replaced by:
8011A267 Panel Floor Console Switch A$9.00
with any combination of switches or a blanking plugs as shown here.
8050A018 PLUG-INSTRUMENT PANEL SWITCH BLANKING PLUG A$5.50
8610A019 SWITCH-Transfer case GEARSHIFT A$36.50
8602A009 SWITCH-ASC A$42
8610A019 SWITCH-SHF AWD Switch A$40
The plugs may then be adapted to work with your garage door opener as suggested by the following DIY.
as shown here:
The most appropriate switch in terms of design for the garage door would be:
MN108721 SWITCH-SONAR A$58
and if you want to replicate the cars with HIDs, then:
8610A018 SWITCH-AFS CONTROL A$42.50
or if to simulate an Evo look then:
8610A017 SWITCH-INTER COOLER WTR SPRAY A$42.50
There are also wiring loom cables under where you can tap to allow the switches to light up in the night while the head lights are on.
Finally, everyone wants one of them "coloured dash displays"
MI-8100B451 METER ASSY-COMBI
RRP= A$846+
CCJ=A$800

It would be interesting to see what VOX motorsports cost of the hood is.
I recall them releasing a hood with all the insulation as well. Not sure of the material it is made of though.
On a side note, thanks Ofey for this repost of a repost of a repost of a repost.
This has been mentioned umpteen times by Ofey alone. The fact the he still posts this info show how much he cares for the club.
P.S. Imagine a ralliart bumper or hood group buy HAHHAHAHAHA
I might be dreaming though

Good luck to anyone who undertakes this conversion. I understand why people do it in other markets such as Singapore where the cost of the mods (and the labour) is extremely low relative to the cost of the car, but to do this in Australia would be only for those who REALLY want to prove a point I'd say! (i.e. that they could do it)

@JustSC: The reason why I repost a repost of a post is because no matter how many times I do it, there's always another noob round the corner who's going to ask.
So best we collate EVERYTHING into one thread and everyone can point them here from now on.
@lancervr: There's no such thing as a FG hood is there? It's dangerous man. I wouldn't ever buy one.
@PMR: Yes I do wonder...and you tell me not to open my mouth... .
@JaCe: Yes but if like me, someone reverses into you, you could get the rear done for free. And if you do love the front design that much you could do the front.
The steering wheel, and centre console buttons to come.

awesome thanks for this.
I've got a ralliart exhaust sitting in my room for awhile now and been thinking of getting either a ralliart rear bar or the rear diffuser from talon.. ahh choices..
Talon seems cheaper though, been quoted 517 painted and fitted.. but then again i would need to get an exhaust shop to work on the muffler...
If you were me, what would you do?
also heard that installing an RA muffler on an NA lancer would cause some issue? something about back pressure and loss of HP?

To save money, I would say buy the actual lamps and cut out holes in your filler ones.
They do sell the RA Fog Light covers seperately. They're about A$50 each side.

Completely untrue.
The only thing that is an issue is how the muffler sits.

Fantastic thread ofey.
I do have a question.
The Evo X has HID's what are the part numbers and are they just a simple slide in replacement for our NA lancers
I'm talking about the whole headlight assembly including the ballasts.
http://www.evoxforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58271
The above link with pictures i would assume look to be genuine Evo X housings.
Let me know what you think.
