I'm pretty sure that once it's written off, all parts belong to the insurance company. Therefore removing them will be stealing technically.

i would be suprised if they ride it off as the total repair bill needs to be like 75 to 80% of the total cost of the vehicle.
the voices may not be real, but they have some pretty good ideas :D:D

You could try asking... When my first car was written off I got the choice, but thats probably because the car was cheap.

Well, update time...

I am meant to get the car back next week... i say meant...

After it got to the panel beaters and we got the bonnet open indeed the damage looked light. Power steering pump and hoses were a mess but otherwise it appeared cosmetic...

Until today...

When they pulled it all apart they found a front bar behind the bumper made of aluminium literally snapped in 2 - the damn thing is 4 inches across and it was literally snapped in 2... oh and there was a hole in the intercooler... and the plumbing for it... and the radiator... I will try and geta pic of what i mean...

It's still all repairable, just get a front crash box, no structural damage then will be all ok. That aluminum bar is the front bumper bar and is the standard in all cars

Mike, hope you got a hire car option cause it will takes a while in case they're fixing it. But above all I do hope you get a replacement vehicle cause you won't feel the same driving a patched up car will u? But for me "even if I know that this is not new, would I say no".......Nah :D Just like that BMW Premium selection ads with a hot woman picture and the above quote LOL

The 2 circles on the left of the image are where the holes are - the one on the right is where the old bar snapped...

From the look of the damage I guess you hit a car with a tow bar right? Hehe, acted like a spear, stab the EVO right in the G-Spots lol

Nope - the beams from the chassis went through the front bar (replaced in the above pic) and then through the intrcooler and radiator...

Its never going to be the same again.. My wrx had a bad accident and its probably 3 x worst than yours .. and even thought they have repaired all the broken pieces you will fine that after driving for a while you start hearing things and parts wearing out faster than usual ..

Due to the impact, my gear box stated making small noises after its was repiared down the track .. but proofing that the problem was caused by the accident was difficult and hence I have to pay out another $4G using my own money to fix it.

You may not find anything wrong now .. but a few months down the track you might start wondering ... its hard to find broken pieces especially if its inside an engine, gear box or similar..

All the best and hopefully yours is okay
