Welcome Callum :)

Interesting username... But on another note, you will find the Club full of information! And believe you me, you best work on a new budget... Or hide your wallet.

When do you pick up the newbie??

Be sure to check out the QLD Section for meets and cruises!

I don't know, this is my first car that is FWD, I don't know if I will really like it yet :-(

Plus the missus didn't really like me modding the commodore's, so I will just have to play it by ear.

Amp, and speaker upgrades are probably on the cards. But I just don't know.

Trust me, you'll love it :)

Once you meet a few of us in person (hopefully not scare you off), you'll be glad you chose the Lancer ;)

Waiting for pre-approved finance to clear and hopefully pick it up tomorrow night.

Regarding my username

Indignation means ...

LOL... I know what indignation means ;) I only mentioned it as usually the username reflects something about the person :) I find these things interesting.

So if you do manage to get your car tomorrow, there is a meet happening next Friday night - do come along!

It might be on the cards, I work in Strathpine, but live in Caloundra so Friday nights I am normally home and drunk by 730, but I may be able to make an exception.

Oh btw ... the car yard tried to flog my all the protection packs under the sun, I politely declined, but I want to know how the lancer paintwork holds up

Paintwork doesn't hold up to well... If you come along on the Friday (I have a black lancer ...) You'll be able to see... I've read and heard and seen around the place that mitsu paint is "soft".

The protection coat I didn't turn down, that way when the paint eff's up, I can take it back.

The dealership told me it was a wax coating anyway so I don't really know.

I have some quotes from a place on the sunshine coast for the following:

Paint Protection
Interior Protection
T15 tinting
Warranty on all of them

I haven't really looked into it too much, but I probably will soon.

I'd say do it sooner rather than later. Having a black car means every time someone thinks about scratching your car, it happens. I've been roughed up by passing leaves...

Will heed your advise ... here is my comparison though.

Dealership $1,995 - inside, out and rust proofing

Aftermarket $530 - inside, out and really dark black tinting

I don't really want to give it to the dealership, cause it just seems waaaaaaaay over priced

Oh yeah for sure it's overpriced, but if you can organise to get it done as soon as humanly possible externally, then do it that way :)

Unfortunately for me, I didn't find this Club until after I purchased... So I kicked myself many-a-times for getting screwed...

Paint protection is expensive because of the labour involved.

I personally got a tube of paint protector at cost from a friend and applied it myself.

It is hard work but very satisfying to do it to your new car. Best of all is you do it by hand where mitsubishi or similar will use a machine which tend to leave swirls.

It is important to clean the car first and do it in the shade on a cool day. Buy some cheap clothes to do it. There are how to's on the web and youtube

Trust me you will enjoy the experience and love the look and feel of the paint afterwards.

Scotch guard cans can be purchased from fabric or furniture stores and just require spraying on to the carpets and seats. A couple of cans should do it.
