Car accident in my Evo :-(

Postby Massaen » Wed Mar 30, 2011 9:42 pm

Well, my car is on its way to the assessor... i managed to rear end a toyota on the way home... i was breaking but i reckon it was still at 50km/hr

No air bags deployed?!?

Front end is a mess, fluid pouring out, power steering gone, very odd noises coming out from the front end... decided to get it towed instead.

I have a couple of badly bruised knees, a sore elbow and general aches...

So now its a case of do they fix a car 9 months old or replace it...

Assuming the replace it then I will have had 3 Evos in a year

First one was black, this one was blue - what colour should i get next?
I have a 3 year old son who KNOWS i should drive faster! So why do i get fined?!?

In answer to your question: White?

I would say good that you're shaken and stirred but no damage to your body.

I'm gutted that you've had 2 Evos already. Seems you have no luck in them.

I would ask why the airbags didn't deploy.

If they do write off the car, and give you a new one, Salvage what you can. Ask your insurance if you can buy some of the parts off before they send it to a wrecker. You can help many people on this forum.

Parts:
Steering wheel *DIBS!!*
Tail Lights
MMCS ?
Brakes and wheels
Rear bumper bar
Rear Boot
Plastic fittings around car
Beeble tooned MY08 OEd. w/ RA BKit+SWheel
Cosworth Panel Filter w/ RA Intake | SuperCircuit 4-2-1 Headers | Creat’d Ti-tipped SS exhaust
BC BR-type Coilovers | UR + Whiteline Bars
EBC GreenStuff Pads | RDA Rotors

Yeah, the first was not my fault (hail storm) but this is all me... just did not stop in time...

Good idea about the wreckers... Hmmm...

I am going with white or red if they give me a new one...

I would have estimated i was going 50km/hr... its an 80 zone...

that said, maybe the Brembo's stopped me faster then i think

The main thing is that you (and presumably the other people involved) are ok, cars can be replaced, people can't.

I never even got to see the blue evo let alone go for ride alongs like the some of the other guys... :( I need someone to live vicariously through until I can afford my own road racer :P

If it were me I'd go another blue because it is by far the best colour :D But if you don't want the same then next best is white (well black actually but you've already had that).

ofey makes a good point about salvaging parts, it would be a shame to see those wheels go to waste and I'm sure plenty of people are keen for other evo bits, especially if you can get them cheap...
