This has been probably covered before but having trouble finding it in search. Would a dyno tune void warranty?

Also are there big risks involved with getting a tune on the ralliart and at most a cat back exhaust? Heard a story of some guy having his tranny stuff up on a tune.

Sorry about the question but first performance mitsubishi ive owned.

Am I blind but the first post in thread doesn't say any workshop names? :S

I'd recommend MRT in Rhodes, Sydney. The owner (Brett) drives an Evo X and his company seem very specialised in Subies/Mitsus, and more importantly the 4B11T and SST. When I was picking my Evo X up the other day, there was a RA owner there and we were comparing the graphs of before/after the custom tunes.

My recommendation to you Gas is to get some bolt on parts before you do your custom tune. Get yourself an exhaust and an intake, then you'll get a lot more out of the tune. Yes it'll void warranty but in theory so does everything else when it comes to parts which are directly impacted by your mods.

If you're trying to get some kind of assurance/warranty, I paid the MRT premium because I feel they are very accountable for their work but to each their own.

ps. If you're interested in my tune on my Evo, feel free to check out my thread: http://clubcj.net/viewtopic.php?t=7686

I second Jace's comments above. I got my car tuned at MRT back in Jan' last year and couldn't be happier with the work and after sales support. They're more expensive than others out there but the peace of mind they provide with their warranty is, to me anyway, priceless.

Another option you have is Tunehouse in Marrickville. Jim and Tony are also excellent tuners, with a variety of cars, and they know our cars quite well.

Finally, if you're still not sure, try RPW over in WA. You can buy one of the flash tunes by sending them your ROM file from you ECU and they'll email you a flash tune. All you need is a tactrix cable to download the tune into your ECU. Quite cheap (couple of hundred as opposed to a couple of thousand) though the tune won't be as effective as that done on a dyno....

I would not get my car tuned using ecutek.

I believe Ecu Flash is better.

I think Merlin is the man to tune our cars. He lives in Sydney and very reasonable priced compared to workshops.

Merlin is a member now on club cj but he is well known on Evo and ecuflash forums around the world.

Club cj has recently started a new section on tuning our cars but you will need to be a premium member to access it.

I think there is a lot of potential if Merlin has a dedicated tune for the CJ Lancers and can offer the support locally to help customers fix their cars (for a reasonable price of course).

As for turbos though, I don't think there's much competition to the big boys when it comes to Evo's and Ralliarts... MRT definitely got ahead of the game with tuning the RA in Sydney.

Come down to Melbourne Creatd Motorsports is the place if you want a realistic price and great results. He has tuned plenty of RA's and Evos with great results.

Yeah would love to do that !! However driving on the freeway to Melbourne would mean my shiny new ralliart will probably suffer from stone chips. Don't want to expose her to that.... yet.

Would be interesting to know how much they would charge compared to others. I was a little taken back how much a certain tuner is charging for an exhaust and tuning package. It would cost more than the value of my daily station car.

Some workshops in Sydney charge circa $5k for intake/exhaust/tune for Evo X which appears to be the norm. However if you source your own intake and exhaust (especially with strong AUD/USD) then you can probably save yourself a bit of cash. I spent closer to $3k all up on my Injen SRI, HKS exhaust and custom dyno tune.

Someone today recommended I go to IS Motor Racing to tune the X - does anyone have any experience from there?
