Scoresby Panels - VRX Spoiler

Postby peternguyen » Sat Mar 19, 2011 9:14 am

I have found a panel beater that sells the VRX Spoiler for about 400 dollars. The guy says it's 'exactly the same' as the genuine; I'm assuming it's a replica. Made from plastic. Anyone have experience with these guys? Thanks.

I got my VRX spoiler of the web, painted and delivered for less than that :)

The OEM option when you buy your car is like $400 so this guy is probably just trying to pawn off a replica for more.

Lukas makes a good point. I can sell you a VERY good replica as well in ABS plastic for about A$100.

The genuine one costs about A$400. So why would you pay the same for a replica?

Intriguing... I called up a number of Mitsubishi dealers and they quoted me $800 for the spoiler. So I figured at half the price of that, the one from Scoresby must be a replica. I'm new to the scene so I'm not so familiar with prices and what not.

Where would I be able to get a VRX spoiler? I don't mind a replica, but will it be just as good quality as the genuine?

Peter tell us a bit more about your car. Colour and model.

Is the price the dealer giving you including fitting?

There need to be 4 holes in the boot to fit the spoilers.

Some one may have an old one here for sale as some dont like the VRX spoiler as it blocks their rear vision.

Sorry, I probably should have given more details about my car.

It's a 2009 Lancer ES. The color is the factory red, so the color code I think is P26. It has no spoiler, skirts or the front bumper corner pieces. I basically want to make it look like a VRX.

I know one things for sure is that dealer prices insanely high. I prefer genuine parts of course, but if a replica is much cheaper and just as good, I wouldn't mind that. But I don't know enough about where to get replica parts and how it's material and quality compares to the genuine.

OK, check out our sponsor X-Factor. http://www.x-factordesign.com/

They have all the things you are after. You will have to drill some holes to fit them. They are all of excellent quality similar to OEM and a lot cheaper.

Wow! Thanks, Troy. Greatly appreciate your help. These are much cheaper. I don't think I am confident in drilling holes into my car myself, but I am also aware of how many shops can be careless and do a crude job. Would you also have any advise on where I could have these parts professionally installed?

Also, when you mention that the quality is similar to OEM, what are the differences or compromises then?

I have never heard of an issue with X-Factors products. I believe they are of the same quality then if you bought them from Mitsubishi. You should be at the Vic meet at the moment and you would have seen these products on members cars.

You are best to ask Vic members for advice on where to fit these. You could always take your car to PMR as they will be able to do it.

All these products just need holes drilled in the right spot. Measure twice and drill once!

Lol. Yeah I may have a look and see if I can do it myself. I've never drilled a car before. But anyway, these X-Factor parts look like a good start for my plans. Thanks again.

Your boot should have marked out holes for where the spoiler would go (i bought my spoiler with the car so they sent out a guy to fit it and he just drilled through the holes on the underside)

Bah not holes, they look like stamps, obvious circular marking on the inside.

Yeah, I know the 'holes' your talking about. It's like a hole through the second layer of metal on the inside of the boot. I guess it takes away one hassle - marking the holes to drill. Just got to make sure to drill right in the center.

I can also attest to x-factors quality, the air dams are great and from the many rock hits theyve taken, there is not one bit of peeling.
