my hope is that they keep the ralliart line (lancer's colt's etc) as there isnt as much difference between parts compared to the differences they had in evo

No matter what Mitsu does, I think they will always have an Aspire.

It's their trademark model designation as is:
Calais for Holden.
Ghia for Ford.
etc etc.

Sam

That's a worry because Ford dropped the Ghia name about 2 years ago so the Aspire may not be as safe as you think. Ford have also announced that they are cutting away the RWD Falcon and going with the global FWD Taurus platform, as well as axeing all V8 models in the next few years along with their performance branch FPV. Holden are continuing with HSV but have also said they believe it's only a matter of time before they too cut it away. Looks like most brands are giving up on any model that doesn't make maximum sales and therefore profit so they can aim towards more envonmentally friendly vehicles.

and there are allot more out there.

yes, i know about the tesla. but i'm talking about mitsubishi's main performance line. 4 cylinder turbocharged cars that are still of the influence of rally.
not electric supercars

There's a lot of worry about hybrid cars, and a lot of people really don't understand. Imagine not only cutting your fuel consumption, but also increasing your power, because that is what hybrids do. Camry and Hybrid Camry as an example. Hybrid uses the same amount of fuel as a Yaris, yet it also adds 40Kw more power, and gets it to 100 an entire second quicker. No B/s, I was a salesman at a Toyota dealership, and have seen it first hand.

Hybrid is the future not just for the average driver, but for performance aswell.

There were reports that this was the case, but Mitsubishi's PR machine has made the following statement:

"Production of the current Lancer Evolution continues as planned.
As for its successor, regulations and market feedback will dictate its engineering package & architecture.

MMC has kept the Lancer Evolution sedan evolving as the brand's highest performing model in the global market. However, as the market's needs and demands change, MMC is considering not advancing the Lancer Evolution concept in the same way as before, but to find a different direction for the Lancer Evolution model to evolve. The new direction, the technologies involved, and corresponding products will be disclosed in due course"

Also on their facebook page
"Further to some comments published in the press recently, production of the current Lancer Evolution continues as planned. As for its successor, regulations and market feedback will dictate its engineering package & architecture. Stay tuned.

Talking to a mate about this yesterday and he said there was an article on this on a motoring website that said that Mitsubishi will still be making some kind of performance version of the Lancer but will be dropping the Evolution name, so basically the Evo X will be the last one to carry the name. Haven't seen the article myself and don't know how reliable the info is though.
