Damn VIC Cops

Postby ofey » Sat Mar 12, 2011 8:40 pm

TRAFFIC police are on the lookout for convoys of cars heading to popular Yarra Valley hoon spots, after stopping a group of 11 Nissan Skylines this month.

Yarra Ranges Highway Patrol clocked several cars within the convoy speeding on Warburton Highway at 12.15am on Sunday, February 20.

The group comprised men aged in their 20s and 30s, plus a P-plater.

I am by no means sticking up for Police, but it sounds to me by that story that the group of people were doing the wrong thing.

The group split up when the Police tried to sort out the situation. If they were respectful people, they would have stopped and helped the Police sort out the situation.

I know car clubs get a bad rep with Police etc, but it is these groups of people who hurt it for us. So, I say let the Police deal with them they way they deserve to be.

I've read the piece again to see where they were doing the wrong thing.
Also bear in mind there's no reason for the media to portray my fellow hoons in a good light.

"Yarra Ranges Highway Patrol clocked several cars within the convoy speeding on Warburton Highway at 12.15am on Sunday, February 20"

but

"None of the Skyline drivers was charged with speeding."

So what wrong doing was there?

Going for a cruise of 11 cars in a convoy was not a crime the last time I checked. Despite saying they were clocked speeding, they had no charges. So what speeding was there?

This comment put it quite nicely:

"Once again the media have enlightened us to the stupidity of VicPol, I didn't seem to receive the amendment to the law book that driving safely with a car club doing the speed limit is a crime, a crime that can justify VicPol harassing motorists by 'clocking' a group of cars going for a late night cruise to appreciate the cars that they own.

I don't know where the time and resources go that us tax payers pay for VicPols pay-packets but here is a tip; Get your ignorant heads out of the sand and start targeting the countless amounts of poor drivers, and poorly maintained cars that have literally chunks of rust falling of them. We pay your wages, you are our public servants, do your job, not fluff about to make your quota each month, and pulling over 'Hoons' that have taken the initiative to go somewhere quiet, do the speed limit, and drive to the road rules. And well done Leader for lowering your IQ to that of a wet sponge and publish a story that has no credibility to any sort of 'Hooning' or even speeding. But I guess your waiting for the opportunity to do a story on cheap bread and petrol like every other novice newspaper out there."
