Mitsubishi side protection mouldings

Postby Gleno » Fri Mar 11, 2011 3:21 pm

Some of you would of of probably of seen the side mouldings on my car,and it seems im the only one that has them fitted. Just wondering are the side protection mouldings are what they say?? Do they stop someone putting a dent in my car when they open there door?? Or do you think its just a cosmetic thing??
Im surprised that no one else has had them fitted to there car looking at the various rides that are on this site.

Might just have to wait for your future feedback Glen - Though if you want to park another car up close and test it out, that would be a bonus :P

Glen the side mold may stop a door dent but not guaranteed. They work if a door is opened and hit the side moldings before the panel. But unfortunately often a cars door will touch above or below the moldings especially 4 wheel drives and rear doors.

I think the only way to stop door dings would be to throw the staffy in the back seat and leave the window half way down - Only problem then is the leather seats..

I fitted a set to my RA but had them painted in matching black before fitting them, but i dont take it to parking lots much, use my other car. They look ok black , i also had them on my grey lancer before this one but not painted.

Most of the cars from around 2000 and back had side mouldings. Unfortunately, dents still happened then.

Yeah Mitsubishi offered to paint them the same colour ,however because i have a silver car,i was thinking that keeping them in the colour they came (which is effect grey i think),thought it would match well against the silver and also i have a grey rear diffuser (OEM) so thought it would blend in nicely.
