No it's not an EVO

Postby Just1more » Fri Jan 21, 2011 7:53 am

Funny story...

My mum was speaking to her boyfriend yesterday (who lives in California) telling him about my new car that I am picking up today, and she was talking about prices, and he says....

"Oh cool, did she go for the ralliart or the evo" so mum, who knows nothing about cars says, "she is getting the aspire, It has leather seats and other fancy stuff" and he says "oh Australia must have a luxury Evo above the MR"

Anyway, she is telling me this story, and I tell her the price of evos but she says they are only about $33,000 in the US... So I check and it is true!!

Not fair!!! Haha and mums boyfriend now thinks I am getting a VERY nice car

I think the shipping costs and import taxes and compliances blow the cost up, not to mention RHD conversion. I love those muscle cars, and they're really cheap in the States, but to get one here you'd have to pay more than double.

Not sure about the wages??

Troy, lets just say she uses it as a convenient excuse to holiday in California at least once a year... Haha you should see her credit card bills after the 5 years they have been seeing each other.

Not sure why the USD-AUD comparison, but mitsubishi australia buys the cars from Japan Mitsubishi - hence a JPY-AUD currency conversion would be more appropriate.

Also remember, Australia has taxes and duties on cars.
In the US, they buyer has to pay a sales tax on top of the quoted price.

Which brings the pricing a bit more close to australia, but definately not on par with how cheaper the US is. :)
