I grew up in Burpengary and went to school at Caboolture, and its amzing seeing the photos. Centenary Lakes always used to flood a little bit, but nothing like this. And I don't think that Morayfield shopping centre has had to face anything like this.
On the other side of town, I have family in Toowoomba, and a lot of friends from the RAAF in and around Ipswich. I am ok here, but worried for my mates. Thankfully they are all smart cookies and at the first sign of any danger they will be out of there. My front door is open to them and they know that too

Got home a few hours ago, we were evactuated form the city and told to leave before the Brisbane river broke its banks and roads were cut.

Incredible to think this is going to get worse still............

I think that is the scary part - its going to get worse. Had to go to the airport and pick up some friends who had no idea this was going on (they've been in New York for the last 3 weeks) and I left work at 10am, got home at 4. We can only brace for what's going to come our way

I hope everyone is ok but with all the flooding over east people have forgotten here in WA Carnarvan had massive floods at the same time it all started over east.

Julia Gillard actually visited there a few days ago and announced the government would be offering $15k to flood affected people, and they said to her face on camera 'How are we meant to fix our houses and farms with that?'.

I hope they can do better than that.

It's pretty hard to actually get my head around the enormity of it all.

There is only so much you can absorb and get a feel for via TV and media sources unless you're experiencing it in real life.

Hope everyone stays safe and best of luck to all those affected.

For those keen on real time news feed, I put a search query together on Google real time search for all new media reports, twit pix and tweets....
