Oops, I did it again.. *fixed*

coming back from a stop in the middle of nowhere around neerabup from a cruise at 3am I hit another kangaroo...

not much damage, it just looks to be the fender that's been bashed in from where he hit his head, he bent the mirror back but they snap into place again.

I'm gonna have to take the front bumper off to get to the fender (?) and i'll try pop it back out with a hammer and hope for the best otherwise it'll be off to the wreckers tomorrow after work and see how much they want for a silver fender.
Does anyone know how much Mitsu charge for a RH fender? I'd have to then get it painted aswell which would probably be another $100-200ish :\

oh well, shit happens

yeah, just the one panel thank god. I'd rather it be a writeoff for the insurance payout though but oh well.

if it doesn't pop out i found two RH fenders on ebay for $80-200 USD unpainted

what is "CAPA Certified"? just a stronger piece of steel?

EDIT: just read it says not available to Australia, atleast it gives me a rough price though..

"What was that Skip?, Your head hurts?"

Graham, Lucky you got out of that one quite lightly.
Didn't you have those roo whistle things attached to your car in the past after your last root?
Did you take them off or are those roo whistles just pointless?

Graham that will pop out but it will not be straight afterwards. The metal has stretched and it will not pop out by the top crease in the guard.

Also the paint will crack and need to be replaced.

Take it to a panel beaters and let them make a decision whether they can straighten it and repaint it or whether you will need a new guard.

yeah zig zags has some roo's but i havent seen any there for a while

i still had one of the roo whistles on, it works sometimes as i've seen roo's just sit on the side of the road as i drive past them (last week one hopped onto the middle of the road and just sat there staring at my headlights, managed to brake in time though!)

but as I mentioned to a friend unfortunately they aren't magical devices that put an anti kangaroo barrier around my car, sometimes they work but sometimes hitting a roo is inevitable :(

Yeah I was hoping the paint doesn't crack or im screwed.

I just took the fender off, it's a bloody mission to get off! bolts in the most awkward places...

mm.. time for Ultra racing fender bar braces.

Good job getting it off. Now how did you go straightening the guard?

It looks pretty good.

How hard was it to remove the guard?

I can't spend any more $$ on the car :( I was acctually going to list it for sale today... can't exactly do that now

I think I made it worse, got a hammer and put a rubber thingo on the end of it and started banging it back out but it seems i've only made it worse with more little bumps which are visible still. (I have zero experience doing this too :\ )

removing the guard/fender was really tricky, lots of bolts in awkward spots.

I'll call a few panel beaters tomorrow at work and see what they quote me to fix it. if it seems a bit much i'll try some wreckers

worst case scenario my mum has offered to swap fenders with me so I can atleast look at selling the car, she has an A31 Silver lancer too

I'll see how it goes, not much I can do for now

That sucks Graham, both that you hit the roo and that you are thinking of leaving!

I hope it all works out mate :) and if you are trying to hammer it out again maybe use a rubber hammer with a bigger head so you don't get all the small dents?

Not thinking of leaving, just selling the car :P

Quote from smash repairs = $500 to fix - IF fixable
$1000ish to replace

wreckers dont have any in at the moment

Mitsu want $450+ for one fender unpainted unprimed

looks like i'll be swapping fender with mums car and trolling ebay for a cheap one and getting a backyard paintjob done so it's nice and cheap

So I fixed my car today, swapped it with my mums fender.
She's happy to keep the busted one on her car but I'll replace it once I have some spare $$ floating around

she's back to normal :)
door is slightly bent in and I think the gap between fender and bonnet is larger than normal (maybe I'm paranoid?) but it's not very noticible and should be fine.

I'll remove a few things from the car, LED's and stuff then fix a few other bits in the car and list her up for sale for 25k tomorrow.
I'll drop the price on 3rd of feb to 23k~ if it doesn't sell as I should have my bike license by then (as long as I pass my test, which i will :) )
