A sad reminder.

Just on two weeks ago, Andrew Meers, a good mate of mine and a good mate to many other people passed away. He was only 18, and the most loyal, happy and hardworking guy I have ever known. He knew how to have the best time no matter what he was doing.
You often see people dieing in car crashes on the news, and never think too much of it, but it's only when you knew the person, and can see the pain it has caused for everyone, especially his family and girlfriend, that it really hurts deep.
For all the young drivers out there, who like me have a tendency to maybe just have a bit of fun when you think you're out on a road that you know, or looks safe with no one around, just think of all the possibilities that could happen. He was driving in the rain with three mates, not speeding, and now he's gone. It has definitely changed the way I drive.

Sorry to hear about your loss of a good mate Matt.

I can't say that I have experienced the loss of a friend in that way, but working in an operating theatre I have seen my share of motor vehicle accidents - both with good and bad endings. You are correct in saying tho, that we all too often don't think about "what may happen".

Again, our thoughts are with you and your friends family at this time.

I can't feel your pain as only you and those others so dearly and closely related can.

It's a surreal feeling losing someone, you look at the news and you always hear these things happening but you'd never expect it to impact anyone close to you, so when it does it's like... no, what? Pretty much sums up my experiences.

I wish you all the best as you come to terms with what has happened, no one deserves such things.

Words cannot express the devastation caused by such a tragic loss

Like others have said, you never expect it to happen to you, and you just dont understand why it has to happen to someone so good, when theres so many other bad people out there.
The one thing that makes me smile without failure is what a girl said on his facebook, "They say when someone dies and it rains the next day, they were a good person. Well it's been raining four days straight now, you must of been a real good person."

Main point is though, for other young drivers to just think of the consequences of your actions on the road. If you could just see the devastation that this one death has caused, maybe it will make someone think before they do something stupid at the wheel in the future

So True Matt with young drivers ..I have 2 Teenage Grandsons Just on their P's ...Although They Are Good Boys , I Know Them Well enough to know they are the type of Teenage's who will drive "At Times properly with their mates and would show off ' And do something stupid ..
