fitting bodykit using sikaflex?
Hi guys, one of my friend who is going to help me with the front bumper and rear skirt from Xfactor recommended me to use sikaflex glue rather than drilling and bolting for installation? Is that gonna work? coz Shadows can't guarantee the outcome as well...
I fit Shadows side skirts and front extensions on my own with the help of a friend and yes you do need to drill and bolt them. It was a difficult job to do, mainly because the black marker stickers were a pain to use effectively but you can sort of measure and work out where to drill and even if you drill in the wrong spot, which we did, it doesn't matter because you can simply re-drill in the correct spot and it will be fine. The fit wasn't 100% perfect but we rushed the job and didn't really measure where we drilled because it started to rain while we were fitting and because shadow's gear fits so perfectly but the gaps in between the skirts and the car were tiny and i just filled them with silicon and it looks perfect. The fact that shadows gear fits tightly and perfectly means that it is difficult to make a mistake because you have to fit it correctly otherwise it wont fit. I personally wouldn't recommend using a workshop to fit the bodykit because it is a time consuming job and will probably cost a fair bit because of the time it will take to fit. If I could fit it again I would take my time, use the black marker stickers to get an estimate of where to drill then measure the skirts and compare the distance between the stickers to the actual distance they should be on the actual skirt and you will not go wrong. Just take you time and be prepared to do the job properly and you will be happy with the result. If you would like I can take some pictures for you as my camera was broken when I installed it and since then I haven't washed my car so I haven't posted pictures yet.
Hope this helps and doesn't confuse you. If you have any other questions PM me
