you as the driver have no idea that it's not working properly... best to ensure you get it checked regularly!

Hey Jeff anything or part can not work properly at an time.
How many times did you not know that you brake lights were out until someone told you about it.

When was the last time you checked your brake lights regularly.

PS: Now that we're discussing this, I think I will check my brakes lights right now.
I will put my foot on the brake pedal and then I will get out and go around to the rear of my car and check if they are still on.

I"ll report back with my findings.

Sam.

True but the challenge here is whether or not anyone will be able to tell you if your kit is working properly or not since it's not exactly 'normal' behaviour for the light to flash twice then go steady.

Yes, should I put him in the fridge and ask later if the light went out.

If so, don't leave it in too long - their teeth chatter too much for a coherent answer.

If you could disconnect the cooling motor of the fridge, and assuming no food was inside, you could shut the door, wait a few hours and open it again. If the lightbulb was hot then that would indicate it was on the whole time?
