Hey everyone.
My clutch has just started slipping as of the other day, so I was just wondering if anyone else has needed to change their clutch on their Lancer or Evo. And what they have changed to and their reviews. I think I still have a little while till it will actually need to be changed. Keep in mind that I need something good for a lot of track work, ie; 80%+ of the time I will be driving my car it will be on track..
I have previously had a Exedy 5 puk brass button clutch, and I killed it within 5 months on my old 180SX I found it to be a good clutch, but probably not the best idea for my driving style.

Replacment clutch for Evo X?

How much power are you wanting to run?
I would go Daikin or Exedy stock clutch plate, with upgraded heat treated diaphragm and stronger pressure plate thats also heat treated.
I did the 5 puck brass button and its hard to drive.. great on track but it puts so much strain on the rest of your running gear.
If you dont launch it at every light then the clutch will be fine. I had tripple puck ceramic/brass button in my MR, and I went back to stock clutch.. and its lasted 7 years now. Coz i dont launch it..

well rego is running out this month, so im gonna let it. got a price from NA Autosport Engineering for a Organic racing clutch that they make themselves. They said it wont feel good for normal street driving, but more than ample for upto 300awkw. which is fine for me and it is less than the price for an exedy clutch. I will keep you all posted.

Yep im still running stock clutch in my X and its done just over 17000km and plenty of hard driving and netted a 11.66 1/4 sprint time.... yeah it does get a bit smelly if slipped whilst launching but at this stage i see no need to replace it because as us evo x manual owners know, that once the clutch is replaced with a "heavier" unit the clutch master cylinder will crap itself (as its made of plastic!)
AMS have a soltuion for that problem, i think.

That ring hasnt fixed things much at all. It holds the guts of the master cylinder together but then the end just blows out instead.
The fact of the matter is the plastic stock master cylinder just cant handle the added pedal pressure of a uprated pressure plate. Its a pity the metal unit from a evo 9 is a pain to modify and fit

SSP (south side performance) make a full replacement alloy master cylinder for the evo x but its had to undergo a few revision "models" due to small issues from a few that they have sold.

When my clutch craps itself, i will most likely just replace it with a clutch that is similar to stock (pressure plate clamp loading that is) as i dont have any real issues with how it is and my car gets a good workout on the dyno and on the road/track
Jase: Maybe jump on the some of the USA evo forums like EVOX forums or evolutionm forums and check out what they have done in regards to master cylinder replacements/modifications.
