It isn't that. He needs a bigger back seat! The current Mitsu one doesn't have enough space for him to try out all the positions he wants to... .

Having driven 130,000km+ in various BA and BAIIs and then driving 2.0 and 2.4lt Lancers, I must disagree with that.

Cant really compare speed when the engine has literally twice the capacity. Fords have to be some of the worst styled yet expensive cars on road.

Careful with BA's however, so many are missing front bumpers (some issue with that model) my gf drives a BA wagon and hers just fell off haha. These cars are made out of titanium though, good for killing stuff without leaving a ding.

Unlike our trusty Lancers, i swear my guards are made of butter.

Going from Lancer to the Falcon will be a big change, not just handling but it may take a while to get use to it. It will feel very weird when you first drive it. You will quickly get use to the performance though and probably wont ever go back to a Lancer again.

When you first take it out stay away from areas with speed camera's while your still getting use to it. There will be times when you forget your in a faster car and next thing you know you get nice letter in the mail wanting money from you.

Don't wana start a contest here but that's not entirely correct.

I know the lancer is faster then my mates XR6 even when we swapped cars to make sure it wasn't just the driver (both manual) the lancer still pulls ahead.

Wont even mention the handling around corners though.

Sure its got 60 more KW @ engine, but its also 350+ kg more and its RWD which means more power loss at wheels.

Even I will admit the base XR6 is nothing special. Its the same as the earlier VRX to our Lancers. Base model with some body add-ons and generally slower due to extra weight and premium crap they shove into it to justify the price (sound systems, bigger wheels, trim changes etc).

XR6 Turbo however would waste pretty much all the Lancers bar Evo performance wise. RA might survive against it but doubt it. Handling wise, the Lancer will beat it easily. Falcon for the straights, Lancer for the turns.

Its still an ok car though. Also be careful of the extra police attention you will get if you do get it; as said its one of the main hoon cars. Throw on some P plates too and you may as well wear your license around your neck

Well i guess if your happy to buy the Ford than so be it. As long as your happy thats the main thing. I hired out a 2010 XR6 when i was on holidays at the gold coast earlier on in the year, and i must say it was a nice car to drive, very smooth and powerful, though i felt the Auto headlamps are ultra sensitive. But thats only a minor thing and you can override that option anyways.

However when i went to movie world, and saw they were using lancers in the stunt show, for some reason i just had to have a lancer. Movie world sold me lol. Pretty much when i came home to Sydney, was at the dealers the very next weekend.

Why i decided not to buy the XR6, was purely cost,i got the lancer for $25K,a base model falcon is over $30k. This lancer i currently own is my 4th differant car in 5 years. Who knows i may change cars in a few years time and buy something differant. However im commited to keep this at least until the warranty runs out in 5 years time.

Im sure there are a lot of members here who may buy a car from a differant manufacturer sometime in the future. Things change over time.
Im hoping this club can continue for years to come even though there will be new model lancers coming and going.
Good luck whatever you decide
Cheers :)

Interesting thought. Why don't we group buy our upgrade. This time though, let's wait at least 2 yrs after the model is released before we do our group trade. It would be very funny if we had the next ClubCX or something and all the characters were the same... .
