Just had a look at the route you've got, just a suggestion, it may be better to take the Princes Hwy/Dandenong Rd down to Wellington.

On the return, keep going down Canterbury Rd, avoid Eastlink, turn down Springvale Road and then reconnect on Wellington Road, then Princes Hwy.

pete, i dont mind, i dont fully remember the roads, what i was trying to do at the start is to go along the esplanade to north road for ease of navigation for us interstaters, if u wanna do up a google map of your route, please do :)

u also might know better roads to mt dandenong?

Yeah take Princes Hwy/Dadenong Road, its faster plus you got the S section where you go under the train lines at Caulfield. Get to see who can take that at the speed limit :)

The current route you have more traffic lights and a good bulk of North Rd is 60 until you hit Huntingdale. With Princess Hwy its 70 till you get out of Caulfield then jumps to 80 and not as many traffic lights. Plus its not all straight road and in the inner city its a nice drive with the trees on either side.

But if you dont have many points on your license you may end up loosing some. Red light/speed camera's throughout.

Maybe change your route to turn left onto Barkley St and follow it through to Queens Way/Dandenong Rd then just follow through till you get to Wellington Rd. Staying on Carlisle/Balaclava you got mix of 40-60 zones plus tram lines.

Possible new route from your hotel would be:

-from hotel, turn left onto Barkley street.
-follow through to Punt Rd
-from Punt Rd take the Queens Way/Dandenong Rd turn off and follow through to Wellington Rd.

The Barkley St-Queens Way would be about 5mins at most but you will need to stay in the right lanes as early as possible once you get on to Barkley St, especially to get onto Punt Rd as once your on that your next turn (Queens Way/Dandenong Rd) is your next intersection.

Pitty your doing Mt Dandy.
A trip to Apollo Bay along the Great Ocean Road would be awsome with so many cars!
Plenty of 100km/h stretches that are hard to reach!!!

This should be on the to do list perhaps in 2011 for a vic cruise?

if we had more time, the Great Ocean Road would be great.

How long would a cruise down the Great Ocean Road take, because I don't know about you lot but I might do this myself on sunday or something :D
