Window Tints
Moderators: Moderators, Senior Moderators
well you can say whatever you like but my tints were done by the same guy the local dealers use and he felted the seals and they have already scratched up the driver's side window. but they did take a few months to appear. also keep in mind I open my window up and down at least twice every weekday to swipe my proxy card at work.
If you dont believe me I'll try take photos, but my seals are felted and they still have scratched the tint.
Even the window tinter said the seals on new mitsubishis are sh!t, I trust the window tinter to know a thing or two about the quality of window seals.

Mitsubishi dealers (or dealers in general) don't tint windows. They take the car to a window tinting place nearby and get it done.
I have investigated the scratching problem with my local SolarTint (who does the Mitsubishi dealer's tinting in my area) and he showed me the problem and how they fix it for lancers and outlanders. They cut out about 2mm of some hard rubber sleeve down into the window that causes the scratches. They havent had any problems since they've been doing this, either with scratches or any window leaks. I will be getting mine done by them ASAP (incl. clear UV film on the privacy glass at the rear).

The part I am talking about is not a seal - it something else down in the door. Cutting it down by 2mm has worked so far. He knew exaclty what I was tlaking about when I went there a couple of weeks ago and actually showed me a piece they'd removed from a CJ. Outlander doors have the same problem.

When you take the seal out there is two strips.. the one you can see when the seal is in and the lower one that you cant see (sorry its the best I could explain it). Basically I found the lower one to be the problem. I fixed it up good with felt tho and so far no problem. Too bad I realised that after it got scratched =/ lol.
I do think felt works.. just depends on how you put it on and where you buy it from. however I havent had mine in for a long enough time to tell whether the felt wears or not
