Kim aluminium is very easy to paint.
1.First you need to clean them. Sand blasting where you want to paint is best. Tape what you want to remain aluminium.
2.Use the right primer and then when dried use the colour. Your brake paint will be fine.
3.Remove tape and paint with a clear coat to protect.
As discussed because of the high traffic area it will tend to wear. I suggest you only paint the low areas of the pedals, so your feet mainly only touch the aluminium section.

Yeah I wasn't sure whether I wanted to do it like the pic above or just paint the parts that are already black on my pedals and leave the rest silver

If you bugger up painting the pedals... you can buy new ones
For Auto:
1600A060 - Accelerator pedal = A$48.50
4620A070 - Brake pedal = A$69.00
But pull them off first before attempting to paint.
