New SX Model

Postby gazman51 » Sat Sep 04, 2010 4:05 pm

G'day
We are buying a new car soon and look like being too late for a ACTiV.
However it looks like the new SX model could be the next best thing and it would be a MY11.
If anyone is buying one or has already done so could you please let us know what price you get it for.
A CVT Sedan in metallic would be what we are most likely to buy

also any info as to the reliability of the CVT would help
as would any other things to watch for or ask.

Hi Gary and welcome to the club.

The SX is the same as the Active. Mitsubishi found the active very popular and decided to add it to their range. Good value for money.

There have been no issues with the CVT so far. It only takes a little to get use to the mooing sound and the way it works.

from what I see see based on the ads the difference between an Activ and an SX is that an SX won't have bluetooth handsfree (which has been very useful for me), it doesn't seem to have side airdams, and has a different spoiler.

i am actually loving the CVT now over a normal automatic after getting used to it.

I quite like the CVT more than the normal autos. There's no more sudden jerks when you step on the accelerator and the ratio transitions are smooth.

Here a link to a Bosch video which explains how CVT works, I was quite impressed. :p (Link)

Differences between Activ and SX:
Activ has Bluetooth (and associated steering wheel controls) and side skirts. The spoiler has a low "luxury" spoiler, where the SX has a hi-rise spoiler.

Personally, if you can find an Activ you'd probably get better value for money; also, with the intro of MY11 models, they'll want to get rid of MY10 stock, so you might be able to bargin down.

Check out the "CJ Pricing Guide" thread to get an idea of some things you might be able to bargin for. (Link)

chooks wrote:Just took delivery of the SX & can confirm that the spoiler is the high rise type with the top surface recessed as shown by Pete, It has lost the side skirts , bluetooth & privacy glass but has a USB connection in the glove box, auto up/down drivers window, improved sound proofing aparently.
It still has the chrome exhaust tip, 16" alloys and the silly space saver wheel. I've added foglamps (back ordered) scuff plates, headlight protectors, full size spare, floor mats & a nice window tint.

This is great but rule No. 1 in club CJ is if there are no photos it did not happen :D

We all love seeing new Lancers.

Pictures please.

@chooks: I'm interested to find out what the USB connection is. iPod/iPhone connectivity?

New SX Model

G'day Chooks
Sounds good , also do you mind telling what you paid for it and is it a manual or CVT ?

Do other club members think that the promotion on this link below is only for this month and is that pricing likely to change

Or is that the ongoing price except for any possible general across the range increases

We went for a test drive this morning , and liked it to drive
however the price indicated was not so attractive .

Surely we can fit the USB to our pre MY11 models?

Personally I think the SX is a rip off, same price as the Activ but not getting
-Bluetooth
-Sideskirts
-Privacy Glass

To gain
Nothing.

Just remeber the Activ/SX is essentially an ES with options so you gain nothing on the SX you gain on the year.

As for CVT it's great once your used to it which took me 10mins on the VR that Pennant Hills gave me to drive.
I've actually been kicking myself that I didn't get it the last few days
I think the Activ is better value for money even if it's a MY10, im happy I got the Activ and didn't wait. It's a good $1000 loss between the models.

@Jamie: the USB connection will depend on the headunit.

Is the LCD area now in colour or still in orange?
