Hi guys,
Still doing the research into my new car purchase.
There are a few extra accessories I'm thinking of adding to my car such as:
reversing sensors
rockford fosgate stereo (unless i purchase the vrx)
sat nav system and
sun roof
If anyone knows the rough prices for these accessories, I would really appreciate it if you replied, just so I have a rough guideline, and which would be the cheaper/better option ie. less of a headache. =)
Cheers.

Aftermarket or through dealer; what's cheaper?

Hi mate,
The reversing sensors from Mitsu are the best part of $500 bucks, head to ebay and you will get a kit that does exactly the same for under $50, they are easy to fit Ive been told, and are most likely the same kit from the same factory.
Rockford fosgate system is awesome! Well worth the extra cash to go to the VRX with, from memory to upgrade to it its about $800.
No idea with the cost on the MMCS, you can get them second hand on here and it looks to run around $2.5 - $3k. IMO its often cheaper to buy a very good garmin, I know it finishes the dash better and I have debated it since purchasing the car but I dont think its worth it.
Sun roof definitely get from stock if you really want one, its again one of those items Im not fussed over, all I ask is how often would you actually open it?
Reversing camera is around $200 I think, a wise investment if you have the MMCS, reversing in the sedan VRX spec is painful, you cant see anything at all

Sounds like u want a VRX, or Aspire. MMCS +rockford, sun roof only aspire though? someone correct me if i'm wrong. BTW, you cant ADD a sunroof, buy it with the car, or not at all!! trust me....
oh, MMCS allows for reverse sensors in top range too...can be added if not included with car. MMCS as an upgrade after-market, approx $3,800
and trust me, CVT FTW!! paddles! i love my paddles, OMG...
i'm going outside to stroke them...just a little right now...so yummy....

For every "Drive Safely" sign, shouldn't there be a "Resume Normal Driving" sign?
Hi Leo welcome to the club. I am a little busy for time but there are threads covering all your answers.
Aspired purchased an after market sunroof. It was the same price as the dealer option and made from the same place. Mitsubishi do not make sunroofs. His sunroof though is better then standard. It has a sensor which closes the sunroof if it rain and has 2 pieces of glass which helps deflect the air at speed.
SAM-24A has done an excellent write up on parking sensors. He investigated many brands for price and quality. I personally have the factory. I am happy with them, but I fitted them myself as I did a better job and save money.
Reverse camera; same thing. I fitted mine. I put it above the number plate. I had to custom fit. It looks better there then on the boot. Again saved money on install.
Things are always easier to get the dealer to fit, but they charge around $100 a hour for their work.
I will add links to the above threads later when I have time if you can not find them through the search or if some one else doesn't do it for me.

With regards to the reverse sensors, my dealer outsourced it to MotorOne. They managed to install the wrong type of plugs, so the sensors were coming out.
After my 1500km service, I got them to fix it up. They then installed proper plugs which seem to be better quality than the first ones that I had.
I only got them because I could negotiate it in the price. If you already had a car, installing your own would probably be the better option.

Always see what deals the dealer will do but price aftermarke first (so you know you are getting a deal). When it comes to tint, paint and fabric protection most dealers use tint-a-car and charge $3000 for the pack where as if you take it to tint-a-car yourself you pay just over the $1000 mark (or $600 when on special)(plus they use the better grade tint then dealer pack).
