Music U Drive to?

Postby R4PTOR » Thu Aug 26, 2010 11:09 pm

So basically I'm looking for some new tunes to add to my library.

What tracks get you in the 'mood' when driving? Recomendations?

(Throw in the genre as well)

Thanks in advance!

I believe the club is too diverse to have too many overlaps. So what kind of music do you listen to?

I have a DVD-DL which holds about 7.4GB of MP3s and I have musical taste as diverse as David Bowie/ Pink Floyd all the way through to Deadmau5/Royksopp on that.

I find it very good to listen to Tiesto or Underworld or Orbital when I'm looking to gun the car... .
In the night on cruises, I like The Thrillseekers present Nightmusic.
*ALL TRANCE*

On a lazy Sunday afternoon, I might prefer a mix-match of pop music I grew up to in the 80s like: Depeche Mode's Behind the Wheel and Never Let me down again. Other bands from that era include New Order, Radiohead and The Sisters of Mercy *from my goth stage*... .
*ELECTRONIC SYNTH POP/GOTH/ALT*

On the way to work, I usually do Triple M or Van Halen or The Red Hot Chilli Peppers or X-Japan. *HEAVY*
On the way from work, I like Royksopp, Jean Michel Jarre or Mike Oldfield.*INSTRUMENTAL*
I find for classical music: Wagner, Shostakovich and Mendelssohn are best... .

I'd agree with ofey, I have GBs of music. Currently on rotation is the QOTSA discography and placebo. I'm in raging frame of mine this week. :)

my whole library pretty much consists of 'electronic' music ;) a bit of a spattering of 'other' music, but yeah, its all about the tunes hehe

while i get paid out by my wife for not having a 'diverse' musical taste, i counter saying that i love diversity whether it be hard house / nrg; trance; freeform (finnish & uk); techno; progressive; house; psy trance; d&b just to name a few haha
we are fascinated by that which can destroy us...

Depends a ALOT on which CD's I have in the car.

Currently:
Joe Satriani - Surfing with the Alien
Nightwish - Once
ACDC - Back In Black
Trivium - The Crusade
and a couple others that aren't coming to mind right now.

On the iPod I also have a bunch of music that gets used more on long drives when I don't want to change CD's.

Miscellaneous tracks by Apocalyptica, Eminem, BEP, Kid Cudi, Owl City, Parkway Drive, Phill Colins, Sentenced, Oomph, Johnny Cash... and full albums...

Deadmau5 - For Lack of a Better Name
Dream Theater - Octavarium
Eminem - Recovery
Iron Maiden - The Final Frontier
Lacuna Coil - Shallow Life
Massive Attack - 100th Window
Metallica - Death Magnetic
Nightwish - Once
Opeth - Blackwater Park & Watershed
P!nk - Funhouse
Regina Spektor - Begin to Hope (disc 1 & 2) & Far
Sirenia - The 13th Floor
The Smiths - Hatful Of Hollow, Meat is Murder, The Queen Is Dead & The World Won't Listen

Short drives I prefer faster/heavier music, longer drives I prefer stuff a little easier to listen to.

Awesome !!! I like some of their earlier songs as well. "Meridian" off their 2002 album.

Nightwish - Tarja era or post era???
Also, have you heard of "Northern Kings??" Marco Hietala (Nightwish) joins Tony Kakko (Sonata Arctica) and Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto (Charon) and do symphonic metal covers of many songs - "We don't need another hero" and "Don't stop believing" which are both epic.

I like a lot of Finnish / European metal bands with both male and female singers. Many of these are unknown here in Australia as they don't tour here.

Also, power metal bands like Lordi, Rammstein get me home after a crap day at work.
