WHOA!!!
Thanks HEAPS guys!!
To be honest I thought nobody or just one person would reply, I'm glad I got a range of opinions!
So it's not the full evo x body kit then? At least when I go there in person I won't seem like I know nothing now.
And to Mitch, not sure how swearing goes in these posts but F%^# me dead your car is sexy! Decent price too, not that I would know what a decent price is =p but I'm learning.
The fuel consumption information is handy to know, and it's a shame those features (dusk and rain sensing lamps and wipers) are not available on the ES model.
Going to have to have a chat with the reps at Sydney city mitsu, and shop around those other places too. I think someone mentioned Prestons?
Thanks again guys.
Peace.

Saw the Lancer R in Suttons Mitsubishi in Arncliffe too... strongly considered it cause it was just too sexy... but in the end i decided that an Activ would be give better value for my money.. so got a CVT Activ instead and just put in threw in a few options that I wanted.
In the end what ever makes you happy.

The Lancer R looks pretty good, with the body kit and big rear wing fitting quite nicely. At least it ain't some Evo X wannabe.
Fuel consumption, while not record breaking, is still among the best in the 2.0 category. It's better than the Mazda3, Civic Sport to say the least.

I run low 8's l/100k... mid 7's if I drive like my mum. And that's around town.
2.0 CVT.
9's/10's if I'm in sport mode and being spirited.
BTW, I have 20 - 30 odd Kg of Stereo and sound deadening in my car.

You could spec up a lancer a activ or VR with the kit, minus the side skirts. IMO the Mitsubishi side skirts that come with the activ look better than the kit anyway. The kit is just a lip kit, they can put on any model except for the VRX because of the front air dams. But then again you could just get the rear skirt. But your looking at alot of money to do that with the vrx. The activ has the best value at the moment, but if your after the dusk sensing headlamps and Rockford audio, see if they can spec up the VR

In my opinion the dusk sensing headlamps aren't worht it - you can swtich lights on pretty easy and the rain sensing wipers aren't worth the trouble - I would much prefer a normal intermittent wiper system.
A real Evo X is quite different to a standard Lancer and you can;t put an Evo kit on one of our non-evo cars as the X is wider.
I would recommend the Activ as well - along with the front and rear lips that Quixand has - I wish that front was around when I bought my car!

In my opinion, I thought the VR was a good compromise. You get properly integrated fog lamps, auto wipers and lights. All things that would be very expensive to upgrade yourself from an ES. From a VR to a VRX are mostly changes you can do yourself, or all things that I have matched or surpassed with modifications on my own (with the exception of the smart key).
Also I bought mine second hand, and for the km I was looking for, and ES was $17-18k, a VR was $19k, and a VRX was still $26k. I bought the VR, spent about $4-5k on mods and ended up with what I think it far better, far more customised car than a stock VRX, for 2 grand less than one would have cost me.
That said, I'm pretty sure everyone on here would recommend that you make the same choice they did ... otherwise why would they have done it in the first place

Oh yeah ... new 2.4 ... wasn't the deal when I was shopping
In that case, these days I'd definately go the VRX. Otherwise you'll be chasing that extra 0.4 litres the whole time

@Leo, I was in the boat before. Couldn't decide between an Lancer RSV and the VR-X. I'd been to Sydney Mitsubishi and saw the Lancer R too, but that salesman "Greg" very bad service so I just walked off.
The Lancer RSV is the Sutton Mitsubishi (Arncliffe) verison of the modified ES. To what I remembered is the Lancer ES + full body kit + 19" Enkei SC25 wheels + lowering. I also wanted an attractive exterior as much as I wanted a full featured interior. At the end of the day I would spent most of my time inside in the car so I went for the VR-X. As what Irving and Uncle Sam pointed out, as long as you have the $$$ you could do whatever to the exterior but for the interior not everything is possible. Btw the VR-X doesn't look bad at all and 2.4L is never too much.
Go to Sutton Mitsubishi and have a look at both cars and test drive them both, that's what I did. As for Mitch at Sutton he is a cool bloke.
Good Luck. Come to out meeting this Saturday and you can see all the different body kits and different variants.
