i dont think the LCD module in our car would be soldered in, they are usually a flexboard plug. simple pull out push in arrangement. like most phones/laptops/anything with a LCD screen.

but i would say they wouldn't be compatable. as the programming of the display is different. in the end if you swapped then and did nothing you would proably just get the same display as before. or it wouldnt work at all.

I saw one of these on the weekend at the dealer, i was gone stop and have a look and take pics, but the dealer has a 6foot all the way around so i couldnt get in, it was in Black, i didnt realise how small they actually were

They are about the same size inside as a Sportback - the ASX has a slightly shorter body than the Sportback, but a longer wheelbase.

Cargo capacity in the rear is near identical to a Sportback. The headroom is higher in the ASX (rear in ASX is equivalent to front in a Sportback).

I have been trying to work out where the 290mm shoter body comes into it. The only place I can work out is the bonnet might be shorter or the rear passenger row is shorter - it doesn't look like it though and all reviews I have read have said that there is plenty of space in the back row for adults (and rearward facing baby seats, which is what I care about!).

These things are in super short supply - each dealer only got between 3 and 6 of them to start with. I have not been able to find an AWD diesel (non-Aspire) yet. Supply won't increase until next year.

this one was in Young population of about 12000, i will have some time in Wagga on Thursday so i might pop in and have a look.

i think one lowered with big wheels would look sweet

If I get one I will keep my VRX wheels for it. That's how they are sold in the US and look really good.

The diesel 4WD (only type I would consider) sits 175mm lower to the ground than the petrol variants for some reason - so they are already considerably lower.

I read it somewhere - but not having seena diesel next to a petrol I can't compare for myself. Maybe they meant to type 17.5 mm - I agree it is huge and would probably make the 4WD too low for ummm 4 wheel driving....!.

I have read a few reviews now and ones that have driven a 4WD diesel in the bush say it's a good goer when in 'lock' mode. I agree not many would be used for this purpose though..... My main obsession is the fact it's diesel. If we could get the diesel Lancer here I would have bought one of them in a flash.

Actually don't mind the look of it... One of the models (Guessing the TD) has a nice bonnet lump on it which makes it look even better :)

Pretty sure the Outlander has become a much larger car then it's original models... Same with the Subaru Forester & Toyota Rav 4. So techinically the ASX would be put into the same catagory as the BWM X1 & VQ Tiguan... That being said, I hate how 4x4's are being marketed as road cars... If you want a boot buy a hatch back or wagon dammit!

I have tracked down a diesel ASX in NSW. I will reprot back on price and trade-in on 2008 VRX Sportback manual!

Disappointing!

My VRX is worth about 4 grand less as a trade-in than I needed (in fact the trade in offered by the dealer is less than what I owe on it!). Apprently the 2nd car market is up the creek so to speak with too many new cars being sold these days - not to mention people can't/don't want manual cars.... I was offered a trade of $18,000 for a 2008 MY09 VRX manual with 17,500km. I know I might be able to get a couple of $K more as a private sale....but meh I was hoping for $22-23,000.

Looks like I will be fitting my daytime running ights to the Lancer and keeping it for a couple more years yet!

I haven't enquired with dealers about petrol.
Most prices on carsales.com.au for the 2WD CVT are about $28,500 to $30,000 for drive away. Maybe you can do better than those prices in person or on the phone.

I went and test drove a 2L AWD CVT and a 1.8 manual Diesel Aspire last saturday.

The driveaway prices on the sheet i have in front of me is $26990 for the 2WD 2L Manual and $29490 for the 2WD 2L CVT, those prices include metallic/pearlecent paint. Remember these prices are for Metro SA.

The AWD 1.8L Diesel Manual Aspire and the AWD 2L CVT Aspire are $40109 Driveaway in metro SA
