Hi Bianca,
Welcome to Club CJ.
Lots of great members here in WA, all ready to help with info etc so just ask.

Let me be the first to answer your Q re performance improvements. Since you have K&N filter and a canon exhaust go to RPW in Osborne Park and get David to do the Stage 1 ECU flash on your car. It will make a noticeable difference to drivability, in acceleration smoothness and Power and Torque levels which are both improved by a good margin for a non turbo car. Costs about $75 and worth every cent, by far best improvement gain for the money. Takes about 5-10min to do.

Also there is a thread re opening up the intake slit area to allow much better airflow into your engine. I and several members did that as well as replaced the intake snorkel with the larger one from the RA (Ralliart).

My post with a few pics is on this page , basically I fitted the RA intake shown in top pick after cutting open the intake area as shown below. Many have copied this , some have put a metal grill over the opening etc for looks.
Hope that helps. Any Q just ask.

Yup front air dam was what I mean. I found a pdf on how to DIY from x-factor website.
But i'm not so sure if the one I bought from rchillmitsubishi would have the same type of attachment as x-factor one? (the one I bought was stated OEM though)

Welcome too bee 06!

Hi Bianca,
Yes the ECU, Engine Control Unit is the CPU that runs the car.

Tha RA intake snorkel or air duct as Mitsu calls it can be ordered at any Mitsu dealership, or bought at RPW if you are going to get your car flashed. Just keep your old one somewhere in case you ever need/want to refit it for any reason. There are a few threads and the part number is listed some where in them. Just do a quick search.
If you are going to buy intake then definitely cut open the intake area as shown in my pics. Can give you info how if you can't see it in the threads.

the only one i normally see is hepburn ave and marmion

thanks for all the info, ill def b up for a cruise and ill def look into those mods. What is the ECU ? is that the computer chip thingy ? :)

also where can i get an upgraded air intake funel?

Yes the ECU is the computer brain for the car.

All you wants can be done at RPW. They hare the RA intake and do the ECU tune flash.

I would imagine you would be best to ring them and book a time and they should only take an hour or so.

Best of luck.

Don't be scared by the thought of someone messing with your ECU either :P

He keeps backups and I've never heard of anyone having to use them anyway. He recommends you run premium petrol with it but you don't have to :D
Great value for money mod.

And no, there are new laser speed cameras now (multanova replacements). They still use the old ones too though.
There are also the traffic light speed cameras, and they keep setting up more.

how much would i be looking at with the snorkel and ECU flash setup from RPW?
I think its near where i work so should be easy enough to get it down there :)

You should receive change from $200. Unless they charge extra for labour to fit snorkel.

They may encourage you to buy a K&N panel air filter as well.

The snorkel is up to you Bianca, its not a 'big deal' depending who you ask. (My opinion is I'd like to have it but have better things to spend on).
The reflash is the best value for money mod though. A must-have in my opinion :P

Their website says $145 for ralliart snorkel, $70 for flash tune. You might get it for less if you say we sent you :P

Bianca, I think you have to add GST to those prices Jake quoted from the RPW website.

To make best use of the K&N you already have as I mentioned you should open up the intake slit area as I mentioned. Snorkel up to you based on finances. The ECU flash is top value for money.
Just DO NOT EVER mention it at a Mitsu dealership.
They will use that as an excuse to avoid your engine warranty if their is ever a problem. They cannot tell it has been flashed nor would they look.

The original programming is very conservative and in some areas poor from my info.
Best gains if you then run 95 Octane fuel as opposed to regular 91. No need to run 98 which is expensive and only sold at certain places.
