a chick on the Mazda Forum has a CF bonnet that has been painted on her mazda3 and it looks SH!T, you can still see the texture of the CF

would it be possilbe to just by the 3 garnishes and goto some car mod place and get the 3 slots cut out? or does the oem RA bonnet have special slots for the 3 garnishes?

i guess it depends on how you want it done and who you get it done by...

some people like the effect of the cf so i guess they put on a lighter layer of paint so the cf texture can still be seen a bit..

she has taken it back a few times to get fixed, she didnt want the textured look :( the painter had said there is NOTHING that can be done to get it all smooth.

Just a note on bonnet pins, they have to be the flat ones that don't stick up off the bonnet or they won't be legal

i belive there is like 5 major parts to the bonnet, main bonnet, 3 vents, and heatshield.

do they do the bonnets in standard material not with just that carbon fibre just curious

theres no significant benefits to having vents and scoops and evo and RA bonnets on nonevo nonRA lancers unless something real serious is happening under the bonnet itself making you car travel at speeds enough to even make having vents and scoops functional.

If the texture of the weave is showing through paint the Carbon fibre hasn't been correctly laid up.

The weave should be hidden under a level coat of epoxy, to show its weave like this there is a major resin failure and the part's integrity would have been compromised as there isn't enough material to completely bond with the material.

Alternatively it could have been a bonnet they have Dinoc'd then cleared and painted

That's understandable guys was just putting the questions out there about the cf bonnet for other people that's all I don't want one for mine at all
